  1. Updates from liaison groups
  • Adrian: Waiting to hear from Academic Senate, Staff Development for scheduling presentations. Shanna will co-present
  • Mel: Chairs presentation went well; received handouts; message that data is important and access to data is much broader now.
  • Craig and Sarah: Classified Senate presentation – provided handout on Evidence and Data and a description of the work on the PRIE Committee
  • Marybeth and Tracy: Counselors’ meeting presentation – used PPT, good questions, could have used more time, questions around data collected, who decides what data, how is it available
  • Shantra and Cary are meeting to plan a presentation
  1. Updates to accreditation efforts
  • First drafts due November 14, 2014
  • Time allocated Sunday and next week for steering committee to review draft and provide feedback
  • Hired Danny O’Neill to clerk for accreditation
  1. Suggestions for edits or clarity, Factbook, indicators, benchmark reports
  • Indicators for college goals, p.16, walkway in F lot not actually completed – Marybeth will check on this
  1. Discussion of First Year Student Report
  • Change in reporting practice impacts reported number of first generation students
  • P2. Above table, sentence runs along the top, layout a bit confusing
  • P3. Punctuation inconsistent?
  • Ensure report prints reasonably well in black and white
  • P4. Last bullet SJUSD should be SCUSD
  • Note that recent high school grades are at the highest percentage at 9.9%
  • Tracking of DSPS data via Student Equity Plan will occur in the near future
  1. Presentation of student data – spring 2016
  • Motion to meet on Friday, December 12 (Anne requests SOG 119 for this meeting and spring meetings) for continuation of this discussion
  • Maybe start with student clubs, including student government
  • What about using ESTEEM classes?
  • What about Statistics classes?
  • 411 website?
  • Summer Success Academy or Freshmen Welcome?
  • Student Guide?
  • Low success vs high success students – would this be helpful?
  • Classified staff spring retreat
  • Create interactive quiz for students (and staff?) to engage them in a data discussion
  • Next meeting, determine how to frame the conversation for students and for faculty and staff
