CARING FOR KIDS PROGRAM RECEIVES OUTSTANDING HUMAN SERVICES PROGRAM AWARD

The Caring for Kids Program, Brockton Visiting Nurse Association’s (BVNA) one-of-kind model of home care for children, was presented the Outstanding Human Services Program Award by Community Services of Greater Brockton at their Annual Meeting, “Celebrating Community Champions”, on June 5, 2013 at the Shaw’s Center, Brockton. Community Services of Greater Brockton was founded more than 40 years ago in an effort to bring the people who work in human services organizations throughout greater Brockton together to collaborate and share information and ideas.

Kathie Aubert RN, Director of the Caring for Kids Program, accepted the award saying, “I am honored to be here to accept this award; however, our nurses who work tirelessly with very sick children every day are most deserving of this award. Pat Hayes RN and Lois Sullivan RN are our two dedicated Caring for Kids nurses and they are supported by our entire Pediatric Team who collaborates with them to ensure comprehensive and constant access to care for these vary fragile patients.” Aubert went on to say that although many of the children battle rare and severe and sometimes terminal illnesses; today many children do survive because of vast innovations in medicine, treatment and medication.”

Developed more than 30 years ago, the Caring for Kids Program has seen hundreds of children benefit from this exceptional care that provides a bridge of medical treatment from hospital to the comfort of home so that a child suffering from catastrophic or life threatening illness can receive vital services in secure surroundings, with family close by. The Caring for Kids clinicians are available to the child and family 24 hours a day/seven days a week and are in constant contact with physicians who are managing the child’s illness.

The Caring for Kids Program is just one of Brockton Visiting Nurse Association’s complex state-of-the-art medical care service delivered to people of all ages and throughout southeastern MA.
