Union Pacific awards $28,000 in grants to casa grande non-profits

Casa Grande, AZ – With a $28,000 donation to six non-profit organizations in Casa Grande, Union Pacific Railroad is continuing its collaboration with local organizations that support community, cultural and health and human services initiatives among the 23 states where Union Pacific operates trains. For more than 50 years, the Union Pacific Foundation has upheld the tradition of supporting community and civic programs in the communities where Union Pacific employees live and work.

The local organizations receiving grant funds this year include: Boys & Girls Clubs of the Casa Grande Valley; Casa Grande Regional Medical Center Foundation, CGRMC Foundation; Casa Grande Valley Historical Society; City of Casa Grande; City of Casa Grande Arts & Humanities Commission; and Sun Life Family Health Center.

Sun Life Family Health Center has received a grant award to assist in its upcoming Pediatric Reading Corner Program. The new Pediatric Reading Corner will be built at the Sun Life Center for Women & Children office located at 1856 E. Florence Blvd. Casa Grande, AZ. The reading center will encourage literacy among our youngest patients. In addition to Sun Life, the CGRMC Foundation will also use the Union Pacific Grant Funds to assist local pediatric patients. The CGRMC Foundation will use the funds to assist the Free Pediatric Clinic of Casa Grande to pay for lab work and medical imaging tests that will aid the physician in making accurate diagnoses for children. The clinic is held two times each month on Wednesday from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul. Rona Curphy, CEO and President of CGRMC, stated, “We are so happy to partner with this worthwhile organization, and are grateful for corporations like Union Pacific who work hard to support the communities in which they operate by improving the lives of residents.” Travis Robinette, Sun Life’s CEO, states, “Sun Life is honored to receive an award from Union Pacific. With the help of Union Pacific, Sun Life and other partnering agencies are able to make necessary improvements beneficial for the growth and betterment of the Casa Grande Community.”
