Professional Rapid PCB Prototyping

LPKF at embedded world 2010

Printed circuit board prototyping is the main focus of the trade fair presentation: LPKF Laser & Electronics AG (LPKF) in Hall 12, Stand 518, showcases the brand new E-Line for finishing printed circuit boards; the highly successful circuit board plotters in the ProtoMat series; and the LPKF ProtoLaser S flagship system.

“The E-Line launched in autumn rounds off LPKF’s spectrum of prototyping systems with a particularly economical product line,” says Britta Schulz, Manager PCB Rapid Prototyping. She is confident that the upswing in business activity will bring about a rise in demand for faster systems that turn design layouts into prototypes.

The E-Line is made up of three systems: the LPKF ProtoPrint E is an inexpensive SMT stencil printer for metal and polymer stencils with a working area of 160 x 200 millimeters. It comes complete with a double-sided quick clamping frame for frameless stencils.

The second member of the family is the LPKF ProtoPlace E. This manual, pneumatic-assisted, Pick&Place system handles components up to 0603 format, SO-Ics and smaller QFPs. It boasts 14 anti-static component feeders. Its big brother, the ProtoPlace S with semi-automatic placement using a camera control system, will also be on show at the stand.

The LPKF ProtoFlow E convection oven produces reliable reflow soldering results over the whole printed circuit board – even for lead-free solders. Its temperature limit goes all the way up to 320 °C. With a working area of 160 x 200 millimeters, the reflow-oven perfectly matches the LPKF ProtoPrint E. Also on show is the LPKF ProtoFlow S which can handle larger printed circuit boards.

With the ProtoMat S 62, LPKF showcases a mid-size circuit board plotter for printed circuit board structuring. The successfully tried and tested ProtoMat is supplied complete with a tool changer, an acoustic cabinet, and high performance software for the simple importing of CAD data.

The LPKF ProtoLaser S is attracting a great deal of interest. Using a patented method, this is the only laser system worldwide that structures laminated printed circuit board material with previously unheard of precision and speed.

About LPKF
