American Spring Wire and RettCo announce partnership
Bedford Heights, OH – Today, American Spring Wire Corp. (ASW) and RettCo Steel, LLC (RettCo) announces they recently reached agreement establishing RettCo as their contract manufacturer for producing seven-wire PC Strand on ASW’s behalf. The multi-year conversion agreement and newly formed strategic partnership shall enable the manufacture and sale of PC Strand to ASW’s many customers throughout the Eastern and Midwestern United States.
The partnership begins production of PC Strand starting on October 1, 2011. This will coincide with the idling of ASW’s PC Strand manufacturing equipment located in Bedford Heights, Ohio by the end of the year. ASW intends to service their traditional customers with products manufactured from the RettCo partnership. In addition, the company also plans to be a Southeast regional commercial presence given RettCo’s advantageous location in Newnan, Georgia which is just south of Atlanta.
Timothy W. Selhorst, ASW President and Chief Executive Officer, expressed excitement about the partnership. “Our relationship with RettCo will give us the opportunity to continue serving our traditional customers and to serve new ones.” he said. “The partnership gives us a great opportunity to substitute our older machinery with RettCo’s modern plant and equipment.” While there are no immediate plans to disassemble the equipment in BedfordHeights, Mr. Selhorst indicated the space could be used to expand production of ASW’s premium spring wire product lines.

In conjunction with the announcement, ASW announced that they have hired Mr. Ronald Mann as a sales and technical services representative. Mr. Mann brings over 35 years of
experience in the PC Strand industry to ASW and is favorably regarded throughout the construction markets. He will work from his office located in Jacksonville, Florida.
ASW manufactures valve spring quality and commercial quality spring wire in carbon and alloy steel grades for use in the automotive, agriculture, appliance, and residential construction markets. Configurations include round and shaped wires from .120” to .700” (18mm). The company also produces PC strand for the pre-stressed/post-tensioned concrete market. Manufacturing processes include: chemical pickling and coating, plating, surface removal, die drawing, cold rolling, patenting, annealing, and oil tempering. Wire drawing dies and rolls are manufactured at their in-house tooling division. Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, American Spring Wire Corporation is registered to ISO 9001:2000 Standards.
RettCo Steel, LLC operates a modern processing facility in Newnan, Georgia that is made up of a fully automated hydrochloric (HCL) acid cleaning and coating line for wire rod processing, Frigerio high speed wire drawing, stranding and stress relieving machines for the production of PC Strand, and two (2) Ebner bell type annealing furnaces for high end spheroidized annealed products.
