IT’S A HOMECOMING IN ATLANTIC CITY ON SATURDAY, APRIL 1st:

NEW JERSEY DEBUT OF ‘THE DUNNING MAN’

AT THE GARDEN STATE FILM FESTIVAL

Atlantic City, NJ March 10, 2017– A film with roots in Atlantic City – and many connections to the state of New Jersey – is coming home: The Garden State Film Festival is pleased to announce the New Jersey premiere of The Dunning Manon Saturday, April 1 at 7:15 p.m. in the Ballroom at Resorts Casino Hotel Atlantic City.The Dunning Manis one of more than 200 films to be featured at the 15th Annual Garden State Film Festival taking place in Atlantic City, March 30-April 2.

Based on Producer Kevin Fortuna’s acclaimed story collection by the same name, The Dunning Manwill be screened just blocks away from where Fortuna’s stories began. He describes The Dunning Man as being “on some level a love story about Atlantic City,” and he enthusiastically relates how closely connected The Dunning Man is to the boardwalk town. Fortuna notes, “The cover photo for my book that inspired this movie was shot from the Atlantic City boardwalk on my cell.”

GSFF Executive Director Margaret Fontana says, “We are so pleased to host the New Jersey premiere of The Dunning Man at the 15th Annual Garden State Film Festival. The film’s roots are in Atlantic City, just a few blocks away from where the Festival takes place. The Dunning Man was directed by Michael Clayton, who also wrote the screenplay based on Fortuna’s story collection. In The Dunning Man, protagonist Connor Ryan is out of a job and recently dumped by his girlfriend, so he returns to Atlantic City to try to rebuild his life with the last source of income that he has – a few apartments in a low-rise condo complex that sits in the shadows of AC’s newest and most expensive casino. Ryan runs into a few challenges in this entertaining and timely film that has been described as a dark comedy. The film’s cast includes James Carpinello, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Nicoye Banks.

The film’s personal connections to Atlantic City and New Jersey include:

• Producer/Author Kevin Fortuna is originally from Atlantic City and Absecon Island

• Co-Producer Brent Butler is from Vineland, NJ

• Editor Ian Blume is from Atlantic City

• Production Consultant Jonathan Gray is also from Atlantic City.

The 15th Annual Garden State Film Festival runs from March 30-April 2, 2017, with 216 films from over 24 countries being featured during the event.
