Minutes
February 3, 2014
The regular meeting of the Board of Road Commissioners for Presque Isle County was held at the Road Commission office at 657 South Bradley, Rogers City, Michigan. Chairman Thomas Catalano called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Board Members Present: Ronald Bischer, Thomas Catalano, Charles Rhode
Also Present: Supt/Mgr. Gerald Smigelski, Clerk Anne Wirgau

Minutes:
Motion by Rhode (Catalano) to accept the minutes from the January 20, 2014
meeting as presented.

Accounts Payable:
Motion by Bischer (Rhode) to approve the accounts payable in the amount of $133,535.65

Supt./Mgr Report:
· Year to date snowfall is 96”
· Supt./Mgr ordered a 1,635 gallon plastic tank to be used as water/brink tank at the Onaway garage.
· Supt./Mgr Smigelski updated the Board on the status of the health insurance co-pay amounts – slightly lower than last year’s amounts due to newly enacted legislation setting the two person cap higher.
Unfinished Business:
Chairman Catalano is requesting that several trees along the right of way of Healy Hardwoods Road be cut down as they are hindering truck traffic. Discussion was held regarding Road Commission right of way rights regarding the issue. Supt./Mgr will have Rogers City Foreman Roznowski inspect the area in question and will report at a future meeting.
Supt./Mgr Smigelski presented to the Board a job description for a part time janitor and discussion was held regarding the proposed position. Supt./Mgr is requesting a wage of $9.00 to $10.00 per hour for twenty hours per week with no benefits. A motion was made by Rhode (Bischer) to adopt the janitor job description as presented and to advertise for this position.

New Business:
A motion was made by Catalano (Bischer) to cast a CRAM ballot in favor of electing Burt Thompson of Antrim County to a three year term on the CRAM Board.

A motion was made by Rhode (Bischer) to advertise for the following seasonal items:
Bituminous Emulsions; Culverts; Bands and End Sections; Hot Mix Asphalt; Cold Patch; Dust & Ice Control Brine and Pavement Markings
Specifications may be obtained at the office of the Presque Isle County Road Commission in Rogers City. Bid openings will take place on March 17, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. The right is reserved by the Presque Isle County Road Commission to accept or reject any bid; and to waive informalities in bidding when it is deemed to be in the best interest of the Presque Isle Road Commission.

A motion was made by Bischer (Rhode) to authorize expenses for Payroll Clerk Mucciante to attend a MCRCSIP workshop in Roscommon on March 13, 2014 from 8 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

A motion was made by Bischer (Rhode) to authorize the Board of Road Commissioners and Supt./Mgr to sign the Title sheet for the Category A project.

The next meeting dates for the Board of Road Commissioners will be on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. and Monday, March 3, 2014 at 8:30 a.m.
There being no further business it was moved by Rhode (Bischer) to adjourn the meeting at 9:45 a.m.
