Range Notices & Range Rule Reminders.

  • Members MUST have a current membership card when on the range and MUST produce the card for inspection when asked by another member or a member of the Watervliet Fish & Game Club.
  • When using the 300yd line, members must park in back of firing points 1 thru 7, so that WF&G skeet shooters can use their field and won’t rain shot down on the shooters at the 300 yd line. If asked by a Watervliet member to move to points 1 thru 7 in the interest of safety members must do so.
  • Please be sure to use glue when replacing target centers. Do Not Use Staples.

Club News.

In January Forbes was the subject of a court action that stemmed from the discovery of bullets alleged to have struck a building owned by a local company. The building is downrange from the properties of Forbes and Watervliet Fish & Game Club. The proceeding sought to stop all shooting sports activities at Forbes. In the meantime, the Colonie Police Department started an investigation which is open as of this writing. The court action was dismissed, however, the Court made it clear that if sufficient evidence is ever developed that bullets fired from Forbes ever went outside our range area the result could be different.

What this case means to you…

1

This case is a reminder that EVERY MEMBER MUST adhere to the rules of safe firearms handling and the Club’s Range Rules. There is no room for exceptions. EVERY MEMBER acts as a Range Officer while on the Range and looks to see that the safety and range rules are followed. And EVERY MEMBER is responsible for seeing that only authorized, current members use the range.

If you see any one disobeying our Range Rules, don’t be shy. Tell them to stop. And don’t be shy about checking identification. EVERY MEMBER MUST have a current membership card for display while at the range and MUST show it when asked.

If a member doesn’t cooperate, report it to an officer. If an unauthorized person will not leave the range he or she is a trespasser and you may call the Colonie Police Department to have them removed. REMEMBER, if they don’t have a current membership card they do not belong on the range.

Watch for persons who park their cars outside the gate and walk in to use the range. That’s a signal that they don’t have the current key lock combination. Watch for persons who don’t use paper targets. That’s sign they don’t know the range rules and may not be members.
