REPORT ON PAST EVENTS

Earthquake Relief – this past spring, a tremendous amount, over $36,000, was raised locally for China Earthquake Relief by the combined efforts of COCCC, WCCA and the Taiwanese Women’s Federation. Congratulations and kudos are extended to all the volunteers that ensured the success of the campaign. Peter Chieh and Liming Su are to be singled out for their initiative, leadership and extraordinary dedicated work for this worthy cause.

K-W Multicultural Festival - June 21-22, 2008 – the COCCC food tent managed to raise close to $5000 despite the unfortunate rainy weather. Special thanks to the many volunteers, our sponsors and to the organizers who helped to cook and to serve the dim sum offerings. Special thanks to the cultural performers, their instructors and their families for patiently waiting out the torrential rains, in order to perform.

Summer Picnic – July 12, 2008 – The Cambridge Chinese Association, the K-WChineseAllianceChurch and COCCC co-hosted a summer picnic at the Elora Gorge Conservation Area. More than 150 people attended. Everyone had an enjoyable time. The Tug of War challenge was a great hit! Special thanks to the BBQ team and the organizing committee for their supreme efforts.
