2009 BOARD MEETINGS
September 29, 2008
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of District #154 was held at the high school on September 29, 2008.
President Henning called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m.
Present: Dujmovich, Henning,Trader, Torman,Wisz, Fischer,and Darlington
Absent:None
Administration: Bertrandand Secretary Baser
Guests: Junior Class offices Hayley Keil and Brittney Siegfort; and Junior Class Advisor Charlie Petrauskis.

Moved by Wisz and seconded by Dujmovich to approve the following consent agenda items: the minutes of the regular meeting of September 8, 2008; to not release the executive session minutes of September 8, 2008; the August Treasurer’s report; to accept the Kooi and Pingel Education Loan Trust Summary report of August 321, 2008; to authorize Superintendent Bertrand to prepare the Truth in Taxation Resolution, defining details, notice, publication, date and time for the Truth in Taxation hearing; to accept the 2008 Illinois District report Card; the theatre students attending Illinois High School Theatre Festival on January 8-10, 2009; to Marengo FFA to attend the national FFA Convention in Carmel, IN on October 22-25, 2008; the quarterly report of pupils no longer enrolled in school; to accept cash in lieu of land for “The Hennings” subdivision; to award a diploma to Noah Christian Woolever, who has completed all requirement for graduation; for Superintendent Bertrand to attend the ISBE State Superintendent’s conference on October 22 & 23, 2008; and to accept the donation of $2,243 in plants from Hoffie Nursery to the FFA for a botanical garden. Roll Vote: 7 Yes, 0 Nays. Motion Carried.
Moved by Trader and seconded by Fischer to approve the Class of 2010’s plans for prom. Voice Vote: Motion Carried.
Moved by Fischer and seconded by Torman to approve the District sponsoring the Marengo Indians Junior Basketball League. Voice Vote: Motion Carried.
Moved by Dujmovich and seconded by Wisz to adopt a Resolution to increase the imprest fund from $10,000 to $15,000. Roll Call Vote: 7 Ayes, 0 Nays. Motion Carried.
Moved by Trader and seconded by Wisz to authorize Superintendent Bertrand to request bids on a Steamer for the kitchen. Voice Vote: Motion Carried.
Superintendent/Board Report:
- Discussed the Veterans Day Program scheduled for November 6, 2008.
- Discussed SEDOM costs
- Discussed the damage to the football field that was done by the Junior Football League.
- Discussed the possibility of adding new courses-photography and auto body.
- Discussed the annual financial report from the auditor.
- Discussed the letter from CLIC regarding AIG being the provider for School Board Legal and Pollution Liability policies.
- Discussed upcoming dates.
- The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 4, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.
Moved by Dujmovich and seconded by Wisz to adjourn to a Public Hearing to review the FY2009 Marengo Community High School Dist. 154 budget at 8:30 p.m. Roll Call Vote: 7 Ayes, 0 nays. Motion Carried.
Superintendent discussed the FY2009 final Budget with the Board. There was no public comment on the Budget.
Moved by Darlington and seconded by Trader to close the budget hearing and to reconvene to the regular session meeting at 8:42 p.m. Voice Vote: Motion Carried.
Moved by Darlington and seconded by Dujmovich to approve the FY2009 budget for Marengo Community High School Dist. 154 as presented. Roll Call Vote: 7 Ayes, 0 Nays. Motion Carried.
Moved by Dujmovich and seconded by Wisz to go into executive session to discuss student discipline, litigation, and personnel. Roll Call Vote: 7 Ayes, 0 Nays. Motion Carried.
Moved by Trader and seconded by Torman to return to the regular meeting at 9:43 p.m. Voice Vote: Motion Carried.
Moved by Wisz and seconded by Darlington to grant an early graduation request from Amber Anderson providing she has met all the requirements. Voice Vote: Motion Carried.
There being no other business, Fischer moved the meeting be adjourned at 9:49 p.m.
