ABOUT THE SHOW
SHOW SYNPOSIS
Rogue Romantic is the brand new show from Adelaide cabaret artist Anya Anastasia (Torte e Mort: Songs of Cake and Death). Featuring all-original songs by this contemporary cabaret artist, backed by a phenomenal 3 piece band, the show explores two sides of one woman: the Diva and the Writer and their contradicting attitudes to love. It will feature mad serenades from the Diva alongside moments of poignant confessional from the Writer – who is not as instantly likeable but who is infinitely more relatable.
An early incarnation of this show was performed at the Melbourne Cabaret Festival, directed by Clare Bartholomew (Die Roten Punkte), and is currently being further developed under the keen eye of Wes Snelling who is coming on board to direct the expanded version of the show. Anastasia will perform alongside percussionist/co-performer Bec Matthews (Circus Oz, Yana Alana), with musical direction by Lucian McGuiness (Scotch & Soda, Company 2).
The exquisite original music is the backbone of this show, however Rogue Romantic is also a visual treat with stunning costumes and staging. It incorporates elements of clowning, physical theatre and circus, as well as sharp and funny lyrics in order to create an atmosphere akin to a hosted mad and wonderful speakeasy.
