Fr. Davebegan the meeting with prayer.

Synod Update:

Fr. Dave gave a Synod update, stating what has been done for the last 75 years in the Diocese of Bismarck is obsolete. There are new rules to follow and new regulations on everything from First Holy Communion to who belongs to this parish. We talked about the section on the priests; how they live, what they can and can’t do.

Parish Cemetery:

There was discussion on the cemetery books and how the books need to be at the St. Anthony Parish Office as per the new rules in the Synod.

Kitchen Update:

It was decided Lori will be on the kitchen committee. Discussion included how to move forward if a hole is dug in the floor to see what is going on underneath. Eric asked Sue if she could bring the money options for the remodel down to the next meeting. Sue stated we have over $41,000 as of one year ago. Dave stated we should get bids on the carpentry project. Eric will visit with Tom Shea and Mike Appert on how we should progress. The discussion was tabled until a further update.

Noisy Babies:

Eric brought a pamphlet in about what a noisy baby or child means to a parish. The pamphlet had information about a crying room available in the back of the church. He had seen this in another parish.

Sue is going to look at doing an information card for the pews for crying children.

Other Items:

Discussion on each parish’s finance council and the parish councils being consolidated. The parish council is to be an advisory board to the pastor for spiritual reasons and stewardship. Fr. Dave said a combined parish council would be better at accomplishing this. We are supposed to submit an annual plan for stewardship efforts, looking at the role and function of the parish council. We talked about what our role is as parish council, and the logistics of the meetings with some in Hazelton and some in Linton. Eric said splitting the current parish council with two on the Parish Council and three on the Buildings and Grounds Committee. We decided to table this until Fr. Dave talks with the other parishes.

The next regularly scheduled meeting is Tuesday, April 11at 7:00 p.m.
