16.143 Playscheme report

The Sutton Bonington Playscheme was held Monday 25th July - Friday 5th August. Numbers this year were very good averaging 150 children per day, some days slightly less. This year Playscheme in Sutton Bonington was 50 years old. We had a Alice in Wonderland theme, with alot of the crafts planned with this theme in mind. The committee were involved on a daily basis along with 14 young enthusiastic helpers. We had many new outdoor activities in the way of games rather than just football or cricket each morning, which went down very well with the children. We had a mask making workshop and an entertainer.

On the last day we celebrated with a Mad Hatters Tea Party, which included having a bouncy castle, to which we invited members of the councils who financially support us, and anyone who has been involved with the Playscheme over the years. We extended the session time until 1p.m.. Everyone who came along, the children, parents and visitors had a lovely time and many craft items were on display for visitors to see. It was a wonderful occasion and good to see so many people enjoying a picnic on the Playing Field. Our thanks to the Parish Councils for their continued financial support. Next year’s Playscheme will take place from Monday 31st July - Friday 11th August, 2017.
