Minutes of the Personnel Committee Meeting held on
Friday 15th December 2017 at 7pm – Memorial Hall, Brewer Room

Chairman read out a short statement to those members present.

No members of the public were in attendance. No representations from members of committee.

PE19/17. To receive apologies for absence and to approve the reasons given (LGA 1972 s85 (1))

Cllr. E Peadon.( Conflicting prior engagement ). Approved.

PE20/17.To receive any declarations of interest

None declared.

PE21/17To consider and, if thought fit, approve minutes of:

i)Personnel Committee 30th August 2017. Proposed Cllr. Down, Seconded Chair.
4/0/1. So approved.

ii)Personnel Committee 23rd December 2017. Proposed Cllr. Down, Seconded Cllr. Davidson

Approved unanimously.

PE22/17To consider matters arising from these minutes: None raised.

PE23/17To resolve to exclude members of the public (including press):
To agree that agenda items below be dealt with after the public (including the press)

have been excluded from the meeting as publicity would prejudice the public interest by reason of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted.

Resolved: That agenda item PE24/17 a) to c) inclusive be treated as confidential and dealt with after the public (including the press) have been excluded.

PE24/17. To consider staff matters;

a) Clerks Remuneration. It was proposed to defer any decision in relation to staff pay until May 2018

when the outcome of the Public Sector review board report will be known.
Proposed Chair, seconded Cllr. Down. Approved unanimously.So resolved.

b)Clerks contractual terms. After discussion, it was proposed that Clerks monthly remuneration be

paid on the last working day of each month by way of standing order payment or BACS transfer as opposed to current method of cheque payment. This monthly amount to be 1/12th of annual salary less HMRC deductions, effective from January 2018.
Proposed Chair, seconded Cllr. Down. Approved unanimously.So resolved.
The matter of training cost reimbursement was resolved by way of mutual agreement.

c)Clerks superannuation. After discussion, no amendments were necessary. Clerk is eligible to join the scheme from date of employment.
Clerk: please amend contract as above and re-circulate to all Pers.Comm members for approval.
Please diarise for May2018 to convene a further meeting of Personnel Committee re: 24/17 a).
Please contact Natwest Bank to establish standing order mandate as per 24/17 b).

Please contact Tailored Wealth Management to determine pension contributions re: 24/17 c).

PE25/17.To agree date of next Personnel Committee meeting.

The Committee will meet when necessary. No date set other than as per 24/17 a).

With no further business to transact, the Chairman closed the meeting at 7.40pm
