MINUTE 76/05

Monthly Meeting

The minutes of the monthly meeting held on Wednesday 12th October were approved on the proposal of Cllr Fintan Malone seconded by Cllr Tom Minogue.

MINUTE 77/05

Presentation by Brian Harten

Cathaoirleach Padraig McKenny advised the members that due to the Ireland game starting at 7.45pm he had requested Mr Brian Harten to defer his presentation until Wednesday 19th October.

MINUTE 78/05

Bernard Markey Millennium Park

The members agreed that if suitable to Ms Tara Mullarkey, the official renaming of the Millennium Park to the Bernard Markey Millennium Park would be held on Sunday 30th October at 3 pm.

Tierney Street

The members agreed that the Town Clerk was to write to Mr Paul Gallagher, Area Engineer to find out who owned the road from Cappocks Green, Tierney Street to the Sewerage works. The members also requested that the Area Engineer take a look at the Patrick Tierney monument.

MINUTE 80/05

Anti-Social Behaviour

Cllr Leonard Hatrick advised the members that an anti-social behaviour forum was to be set up in Ferdia Park and was due to be headed by a councillor from outside off the area.

Cathaoirleach Padraig Mc Kenny felt that the Ardee Town Councillors should have been approached regarding same.

MINUTE 81/05

Flyposting

Cllr Finnan McCoy explained to the members that he was meeting with two representative’s from Bench Ad,s Ltd., the following morning to discuss new seating in the town. The seats he explained were steel seats with a perspex back. Companies he said paid Bench Ad,s Ltd., for their advertisements to be placed in the perspex back of the seat which in turn would cut back on the amount of flyposting in the town. He further added that the seats would be supplied free of charge by Bench Ad,s Ltd.. The members agreed to the idea in principle but stated they would need to see the seats.

Meeting with T.D.s

On the proposal of Cllr Finnan McCoy, seconded by Cllr Niall Carberry the members agreed that the Town Clerk, Ms F. Reilly should arrange a meeting, to be held within the next month, with Arthur Morgan T.D., Seamus Kirk, T.D., Fergus O’Dowd T.D., and Dermot Ahern T.D., to discuss the recent spate of crime in Ardee.

On the proposal of Cllr Niall Carberry, seconded by Cllr Seamus Gaffney, the members agreed to adjourn the meeting until Wednesday 19th October 2005 at 7pm.

MINUTE 84/05

Baroque Orchestra

Cathaoirleach Padraig McKenny welcomed Mr Brian Harten, Arts Officer, Louth County Council to the meeting to discuss the forthcoming Baroque Festival. Mr Harten explained to the members that whilst the Baroque would open in St. Mary,s Church of Ireland on Friday 25th November, the musicians would be in residence in Ardee from Sunday the 20th November. This year’s theme would be breaking boundaries and would include a piece specifically written for Ardee by Rachel Holstead to be played by the Baroques Orchestra and Gerry O’Connor one of the top traditional fiddlers in the country. He also explained to the members that the Baroque would be launched in Ardee Castle on Thursday 10th November 2005 by Dermot Ahern, T.D. The members also discussed with Brian Harten the possible involvement of local groups with the Baroque. Brian Harten thanked the members of Ardee Town Council for their assistance last year, specifically Cllr Jim Tenanty and Cllr Leonard Hatrick and asked the members for their assistance in the forthcoming weeks.

MINUTE 85/05

Correspondence

With regards to correspondence received from Mr Peter McCormack, Bohernamoe, Ardee, regarding high court costs owed by Bridget Hickey the members agreed after much discussion to write to An Bord Pleanala regarding costs involved in the Hickey V An Bord Pleanala – Judicial Review.

With regards to correspondence received from Ms Therese Mc Ardle, Community and Enterprise Development Officer, clarifying the position of Ardee Town Council on the Community Development Board (circular 25/04), Cllr Seamus Gaffney recalled that earlier correspondence from Mr Joe McGuinness stated that Ardee Town Council had statutory rights on same. The members agreed to write to Ms Mc Ardle, Ms Martina Maloney, County Manager and Mr Joe Mc Guinness, Director of Services, enclosing copies of all correspondence and asking for further clarification. On the proposal of Cathaoirleach Padraig McKenny, seconded by Cllr Fintan Malone the members also agreed to write to the Department of the Environment enquiring about changes to circulars.

Budget Draft Meeting

On the proposal of Cllr Finnan McCoy, seconded by Cllr Fintan Malone the members agreed to hold the Budget Draft Meeting on Wednesday 16th November at 7.30 pm in Market Square House.

Hoarding Licence

With regards to a query from Cllr Seamus Gaffney on Hoarding Licences Town Clerk Fiona Reilly explained that hoarding licences are granted by Louth County Council and are charged per month or part thereof.

SPC’S

Cllr Jim Tenanty briefly outlined the process of online planning available to the general public as demonstrated at the lastest SPC meeting. After much discussion the members agreed that the Town Council should be provided with a laptop and to look for same.

MINUTE 89/05

Car Parking

The members agreed to ask Mr Paul Gallagher, Senior Engineer to talk to the Principal of Ardee Community School, with regards to parking in and around the school on a daily basis.

Phone Masts

The members agreed to submit an objection to planning ref 15/1329, Esb Mast, Ballybailie, Ardee.
