Preschool News for October
Hello, everyone! We are into fall now and the kids have been talking about leaves and trees. We took the kids outside to go on a leaf hunt and the students enjoyed walking around the outside of Greenbrook School and finding different colored leaves. We will continue talking about nature and the kids have enjoyed bringing in and sharing acorns, sticks, etc. for their nature study.
We are looking forward to our field trip to Windy Acres on Friday, October 21st. We hope the kids and parents enjoy all that the farm has to offer, including bounce-houses, animals, climbers, and a hayride. Everything is outside that day, so please dress accordingly. We encourage parents to come and enjoy this fun day with your kids, but if you are unable to go and would still like your child to go, please have your child here by 9:00 and be here to pick them up at 2:00. Please provide a sack lunch as they do not serve food at Windy Acres. Information has been sent home, so please talk to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
We will be having Harvest Day celebrations on Monday, October 31st. Preschool students are encouraged to wear their costumes to school if they want to wear one. Please be aware that costumes need to be appropriate for school and no toy weapons are allowed. The AM sessions will have a parade through the kindergarten and 1st grade classes inside Greenbrook that morning. The PM session will parade around with the students from Greenbrook outside, weather permitting. We will have some Harvest Day activities for students in the ECC for the rest of their day. There is nothing for parents to attend at the Early Childhood Center that day other than drop-off and pick-up as usual. Parents are welcome to watch the afternoon parade outside at Greenbrook if you’d like. Information has been sent home, so please talk to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
The weather is getting colder and we do still go outside to play as much as we can. We only stay inside if it is 25 degrees or below (factoring in wind chill) or if it is raining. Please make sure you dress you children warmly enough in heavy coats, hats, mittens/gloves, etc. for them to play outside for 30 minutes each day.
