Pres. Carbone opened the meeting at 12:15 P.M.
Flag: Ron Assef led the pledge to the Flag.
Invocation: Dick Irwin gave the Invocation.
Song: We sang "God Bless America”.
Four Way Test: Dave Sullivan led the test.
Guests:Pres. Carbone welcomed the following guests: Bernie Wagstaff-Wilmington, Mass.,
Mrs. Susan Turpen-Lake Orion, Mich. Lisa Tropepe and Don Shallows Speakers-Palm Beach Shores; Jerry Leonard - a prospective member, William Schultz-Emmaus, Pa., Julius Gross-Princeton, N.J.; Bob Sawyer- Denver Colorado and Dr. John Boland-Trenton, Mich.
Weather: Mike Lyons reported on the weather and said that we would not have any severe cold weather, but we could have some isolated showers.
Announcements: We were pleased to have Sue Turpen with us today. She presented us with a check for the Mark Turpen Scholarship which included the proceeds of a spaghetti dinner held at the Seagrape Condominium. Mark enjoyed being a regular visitor to our club for many years and always participated in our activities. He is sorely missed.

A Lite Moment with Ron Assef:Three rednecks were working up on a cell phone tower: Cooter, Ronnie and Donnie. As they start their descent, Cooter slips, falls off the tower and is killed instantly. As the ambulance takes the body away, Ronnie says, 'Well, shucks, someone should go and tell his wife.
Donnie says, 'OK, I'm pretty good at that sensitive stuff, I'll do it.' Two hours later, he comes back carrying a case of Budweiser.
Ronnie says, 'Where did you get that beer, Donnie?'
'Cooter's wife gave it to me,' Ronnie replies.
'That's unbelievable, you told the lady her husband was dead and she gave you beer?'
'Well, not exactly', Donnie says. 'When she answered the door, I said to her, "you must be Cooter's widow."
She said, 'You must be mistaken. I'm not a widow.' Then I said, 'I'll bet you a case of Budweiser you are.'
Rednecks are good at sensitive stuff.
Schoolhouse: Dave Sullivan, Gus Winters and Don had birthdays and we sang "Happy Birthday" to them. Julius Gross’s two granddaughters had birthdays, Monica Uthe had two happy dollars-She was happy that Sue Turpen was here and had a happy dollar because Mike Lyons is such a nice guy. Elaine Carroll was happy to be here, Lisa was happy to be asked to be our speaker, Bernie Wagstaff was happy as was Tom Chilcote, Tom Turner was sad as he had to leave early. Mike was happy. Ron Assef was happy that his granddaughter and her girlfriend were visiting. Ron Kennedy was happy to have taken a trip with his family. Tom Mills was happy to announce that on Thursday Evening Feb 25th there will be a Hockey Game in West Palm Beach. More information will follow.
Speaker: Our speakers today, Lisa Tropepe and Don Shallowes, spoke about adopting a daughter. They tried in this county but found it was difficult, if the parents to be are 40 years it is impossible. They found their experience in Russia was beyond their expectations. The Russian people were very gracious and very accommodating but the courts were brutal. Of course not knowing the language was a deterrent, however, they had an interpreter. They made two trips, over there which was very expensive. They showed slides of some of the cities they visited and also pictures of their lovely daughter. We want to thank the speakers for a very interesting talk.
Fifty/Fifty: Bernie Wagstaff was the winner.
Toast: We joined Tom Mills in toasting the Rotary Club of Bergen, Norway and Rotary International.
