This course describes the standards of the newly developed USP General Chapter <800> Hazardous Drugs—Handling in Healthcare Settings. The purpose of the chapter is to provide standards to protect personnel, patients, and the environment when handling hazardous drugs (HDs). Handling HDs includes, but is not limited to, the receipt, storage, compounding, dispensing, administration, and disposal of sterile and nonsterile products and preparations.The chapter applies to all healthcare personnel and all entities that handle HDs.
This course has been approved by NABP and the NABP Foundation for 6.5 Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) credit for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
