CORRIB GAS DEVELOPMENT

Report for Onshore Pipeline Project Monitoring Committee Meeting on 25th February 2015.

Prepared by Mr. Padraic Walsh, Senior Engineer,

Project Manager for Mayo County Council.

  • Environmental Monitoring

Works at the Aughoose site are ongoing. Testing of the onshore gas pipeline and umbilicalsfrom Glengad to the Terminal has been completed successfully. Grouting of the tunnel commenced in mid-December 2014 and was completed by late January 2015.Demobilisation of grouting equipment is underway. Reinstatement has commenced in the pipe stringing area and will be ongoing for the next few months.

Works at Glengad on the LVI facility are substantially complete. Reinstatement works are due to commence here in the near future.

Reinstatement and landscaping works on the pipeline wayleave from Aughoose to the terminal siteare now substantially complete. Temporary site water treatment facilities have been demobilised as reinstatement is completed and vegetation re-establishes.

The works are subject to ongoing monitoring by Mayo County Council staff and by the developer in accordance with the agreed EMP.The developer has submitted an updated EMP for agreement. The updates reflect the current status of the construction project which involves the cessation of construction activities at the Glengad and Aughoose sites and the commencement of reinstatement at these sites and also the cessation of activities on the pipeline wayleave.

Surface water runoff from the site footprints at Glengad, Aughoose and the pipeline wayleave are being treated using the siltbuster units and Veolia plant.

Surface water monitoring undertaken by the Developer has not identified any exceedances during this reporting period. Results of sampling by Mayo County Council during the same period did not identify any exceedances.

Vibration monitoring by the Developer is ongoing and no exceedances of vibration levels have been recorded.

Noise monitoring carried out by the Developer during this reporting period has not identified any exceedances. Night time operations have now been completed.

Mayo County Council continues to monitor both daytime and night-time noise levels on the project. Noise data at the Aughoose site is captured by Mayo County Council instruments set up permanently at two locations adjacent to the site boundary. These instruments record noise levels continuously. In addition noise levels are sampled randomly at various locations using portable instruments. During this reporting period no exceedances of either daytime or night-time noise limits were identified.

Mayo County Council has not received any complaints regarding environmental issues during this reporting period.

A summary of Mayo County Council’s most recent monitoring results is contained in the attached tables which are also available on the Mayo County Council Website

  • Roads and Transportation

Movement of plant, materials and equipment onto the Aughoose, Glengad and pipeline wayleavesites continues to take place. All traffic movements to date have been carried out in compliance with the Traffic Management Plan.

Ongoing monitoring of the haul roads continues to take place and any significant defects will be dealt with.
