Hi Tahney,

Here are a few tips on how and what can be done to help save us time and ultimately save you money. Please note these are just tips and not requirements for us to assist in your move. We have no problem assisting in all and every area needed to complete your relocation.

Preparation of Items

On arrival our order in which we start loading the truck starts with all the big bulky items (Chest of draws, TV cabinet’s etc), easy access to these items will help (garage, ground level). We use these as base for the boxes and the much smaller lighter items.

Next we load boxes. If all boxes and small items are stored in 1 room, closest room to where the truck will be parked is best (shed, lounge, dining room). If all boxes can be taped top and bottom to ensure all contents are safe and secure. Mark on the top its contents and the room you wish it to be placed in upon arrival. Using durable removal boxes make packing and un-packing the truck a lot easier however it is not a big issue if not.

The disassembly and reassembly of items is a standard service we offer. This service is NOT charged at an additional price but is included in our hourly rate. Items of furniture that require this service should be advised upon booking to ensure we have the necessary equipment for the items. Dis-assembly of all necessary items (beds especially) prior to our arrival will also help speed up the move. Taping bed slats together is also ideal for moving.

Fridges/ Freezers/ Washing machines. Again we have no issue in handling these items on arrival but to assist in moving these items, please ensure the following:

Fridges; All contents need to be removed. If required we can load the fridge near the end of the truck so it will be the first off, for the convenience of moving food. The drip tray at the back of the fridge also needs to be emptied so it doesn’t leak through your items while in transit.

Washing Machines; Hoses need to be completely dis-connected from taps and washer. Disconnecting from taps and not the washer doesn’t release the suction, therefore leaving water in the hoses and causing the washer to leak while in transit. If possible having

The discharge hose dis-connected releases all excess water stored in the bottom.

Please do not water plants on removal day, as the water may leak onto your belongings.

Unloading of furniture:

This is the main part in which customers can help. Handling of all the smaller, lighter items can sometimes be the most time consuming factor in moving. So assisting in moving these items from the back of the truck to its allocated spot in the new place saves time also. Please note, due to our insurance policy customers are restricted to enter the back of the truck. We will allocate a spot in which we will place the lighter, smaller items at the end of the truck for you to carry if you wish to help.

On the Day:

Please ensure you are contactable at all times throughout the move.

Try to park two well-spaced cars out the front to reserve a spot for the removal truck if required.

Please do have someone responsible to check that nothing is left behind, it is your responsibility to ensure that everything has been moved.

Packing Tips:

Should you be doing some of the packing, start well in advance to your removal date and use the following professional hints as a guide:

Line the base and sides of carton with crushed paper (preferably butchers paper, newspaper may leave traces of ink on items.) best at least 5cm thick.

Wrap items individually, placing heaviest items on the bottom and lightest items on the top.

Pack similar items and sets in the same carton.

Place a layer of crushed paper between each layer of packing and one between the last layer and the lid of the carton. Then seal the carton with 5cm packing tape, ensuring that both the base and top of the carton are securely sealed.

Mark on side of the carton its contents, the room it came from and your name. Also have a priority box for all your remotes, phone chargers, Screws if anything has been dis-assembled and anything else you consider important to have handy.

When packing books, please ensure that these are packed in small cartons so that they aren’t too heavy to handle safely.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to assist with your move with our hints and tips. Should you require any further advice or assistance you may contact our office on 0448 421 432.

Thank You and Warm Regards
