Pre-Tenure Grants Development Award 2016-2017
Purpose: This competitive, merit-based award assists full-time tenure track faculty in their first five years of service at Brockport who have not yet received tenure approval to pursue scholarly activity AND submit external grant application(s) (for greater than $2,500 if possible). Funding may be used to conduct research or creative projects valued by their home departments’ APT documents as fulfilling scholarship requirements for tenure and/or promotion.
Eligibility:
· Full-time tenure-track assistant professors in their first 5 years of service at Brockport prior to receiving tenure approval.
· Preference given for first-time submission of an external grant proposal, but applications for resubmission of revised external grant applications are encouraged.
· You cannot apply for a Pre-Tenure Grant Development Award for an external grant you have already received.
· Faculty can receive a maximum of two Pre-Tenure Grant Development Awards, but not in successive years.
· You may only apply for one of the following grants during a given grant cycle: Pre-Tenure Grants Development Award, Provost's Post-Tenure Fellowship, or Scholarly Incentive Award.
Funding:
· Each recipient is awarded $2,000; half of the award is available up front and the other half of the award after submission of the grant application(s) through the Grants Development Office.
· This award can reimburse a wide range of expenses in support of defined scholarly/creative activities (same as the Faculty Scholarship Account) including:
o Registration and travel to academic conferences.
o Research (travel, assistants, software, documents, data, or supplies not available from other campus sources).
o Costs associated with peer-review publication (e.g. production of maps, rights to use images, etc.) or artistic performance/display.
· Unused funds expire two years after the date of award notification.
· A Post-Grant Summary must be submitted utilizing the link available on the Grants Development page as “Post-Grant Summary.” (This links you to a Qualtrics survey tool.) Please complete the summary prior to the expiration of the award. It should include a brief but detailed account of specific scholarly activities and outcomes, and a brief but detailed account of how you used the award money and the total amount used.
