Pre-Reading Research Activity for Romeo and Juliet

PROCESS

1.Attend WN LLC orientation on how to research topics.

2.Research provided Shakespearean topic/question.

3.Evaluate sources for validity and credibility.

4.Paraphrase and cite credible information that answers your question/topic.

5.Prepare 3 PowerPoint slides—2 slides with 3 pieces of information and 1 slide with a Works Cited.

6.Email Mrs. Sampson slide (as Microsoft PowerPoint file) by 9:00 p.m. on Friday, 2/20.

7.Print a HANDOUT copy to submit when you present.

8.Present slides to class on Monday 2/23.

PowerPoint Slide Criteria—Your 3 slides must include:

Slides 1+2

1.Topic as a title

2.Partner names and period

3.3 bullet points of information in complete, grammatically-correct sentences

4.Appealing and readable text, colors, and font

5.Relevant and appropriate clip art/photos/images

Slide 3

1.Titled “Works Cited” with partner names and period

2.You must use 2 different credible sources.

3. Sources must follow the MLA Works Cited standards (alphabetical order, hanging indent, etc.) [Easybib.com or Noodletools.com]

4.You must be able to explain WHY your sources are creditable.

Super Quick PowerPoint Lesson

To make a PowerPoint:

  • Double click the “Microsoft PowerPoint” icon from the desktop.
  • A PowerPoint presentation will automatically open. Click the 1st slide on the left to begin.
  • To choose a background, click “Design” from the toolbar.
  • Practice moving and changing the sizes of the text boxes to fit your information.
  • To change the layout of the text, click “Home” and “Layout.”

- You may choose your own layout for Slide 1.

-Please use “Title and Context” (second option) for Slide 2.

  • Work on adding your information FIRST and clipart/design SECOND.
  • To add a new blank slide, click “Home” and “New Slide.”
  • To run Spell Check, click “Review” and “Spelling.”

To save and send:

  • Click the “Save” icon in the upper left.
  • Choose your log-in ID from the dropdown box.
  • Save with the following info for your file name: last name/period #/Slide #

- Ex. SommersDavis2Slide4

  • Email this file o that you can present it in class Monday.

To print your PowerPoint:

  • Click “Print”
  • Under “Print What,” select “Handouts”
  • Under “Handouts: Slides Per Page,” select “3”

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK CRITERIA BEFORE YOU FINISH.
