Pre-practicum/Practicum Field Placement Log

Log hours weekly and submit completed log at the end of the spring semester. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requires the Pre-Practicum to be at least 75 hours and the Practicum to be at least 300 hours, 100 of which are hours during which you have assumed full responsibility.* (Assuming full responsibility means actual teaching time: a full class, small groups, or individual students. Hours that fall under the other category are everything from time spent observing classes to planning and grading to meeting with colleagues to sitting in on IEP meetings and so on.)

* FYI: The current DESE regulations require a minimum of 100 hours of assuming full responsibility, but our program continues to believe that a minimum of 150 hours is a standard worth maintaining.
