PRE AND POST SHOW LESSON PLAN

“SuperPig”

For PreK-5th grade

“SuperPig” is a 45 minute puppet presentation about anti-bullying for the PreK-5th grade audience. It starts with the concepts of superheroes but quickly becomes about everyday heroes: firemen, medics, lifeguards, and…teachers! Kids learn how to deal with a bully in their class. It features a main song, “I’ll Help You Today”, that the students will learn. It takes place at main character’s home and at the school library. It is also an advocacy show for reading and creative writing.

OBJECTIVES: 1) students learn safe ways to deal with bullying behavior. 2) introduces the concept of everyday heroes. 3) creates a positive role model for reading. 4) creates a positive role model for creative writing. 5) exposes students to live puppet theatre. 6) introduces one and two syllable rhyming words.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION: The students will be involved in controlled audience participation throughout the show. They will learn the show’s main song with physical gestures. A complimentary CD of the songs is supplied to the school. Teachers have our permission to make additional copies of the CD for classroom use.

STAGING: The presentation involves rod puppets operated above a 6 ft tall curtain. We prefer to set up on the floor level in front of your stage.
