MINUTES TO THE LAUDERDALE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

June 29, 2016

Board Meeting at 4:30 P.M.

The Lauderdale County Board of Education met with the following members

present:

Jerry Fulmer, Chairman

Daniel Patterson, Vice Chairman

Ronnie Owens

Upon the recommendation of Dr. Gray, the motion was made by Mr. Holden,

seconded by Mr. Owens and passed the meeting agenda.

The following minutes were approved:

As recommended by Dr. Gray, the motion was made by Mrs. Cornelius, seconded

by Mr. Patterson and passed to pay the following:

Dr. Gray presented the Board with financial statements for the following

month:

Month ending May 31, 2016

The motion was made by Mr. Patterson, seconded by Mr. Owens and passed as

recommended by Dr. Gray the account payable disbursements for the following month:

Month ending May 31, 2016

Upon the recommendation of Dr. Gray, the motion was made by Mrs. Cornelius,

seconded by Mr. Holden and passed the Tobacco Tax rate of 0.079% for salaries paid to

employees from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.

As recommended by Dr. Gray, the motion was made by Mr. Owens, seconded by

Mr. Holden and passed the 2016-2017 Parent/Student Handbook. (This was presented

at the June 9, 2016 Board Meeting).

The motion was made by Mrs. Cornelius, seconded by Mr. Patterson and passed

as recommended by Dr. Gray the 2016-2017 Salary Schedule with the increase by 4%

to be effective per start of contract date. (This was presented at the June 9, 2016 Board

Meeting).

Presented the Employee Handbook for the 2016-2017 school year.

Upon the recommendation of Dr. Gray, the motion was made by Mr. Holden,

seconded by Mr. Owens and passed for Wilson High School to purchase new

bleachers for the gymnasium, at the low bid of $58,900.00 and will be paid for by

the Athletic Booster Club.

As recommended by Dr. Gray, the motion was made by Mr. Owens, seconded by

Mrs. Cornelius and passed for Mike Hutchins, special education aide, to provide

assistance at the SPAN program to a student who is eligible for special education

services under IDEA. The rate of pay will be $70.00 per day for 28 days over the

summer. The total is not to exceed $2,000.00. Expenses are to be paid from special

education funds.

The motion was made by Mr. Patterson, seconded by Mr. Holden and passed as

recommended by Dr. Gray for the following teachers to attend a two day Coteaching

and Coplanning Training, as part of the Closing the Gap Grant. The training will be

held at the Board of Education Annex on June 28-29, 2016. Teacher will receive a

$125.00 stipend per day, to be paid with grant funds.

per day from Closing the Gap Funds for attending the Safe & Civil Schools training in

Pelham, Alabama on June 7-8, 2016:

Guide/Lesson Plan Development Training on June 27 and 28, 2016 from general

funds:

Principal at Rogers High School for (36 months), beginning July 1, 2016, and expiring

on June 30, 2019.

Upon the recommendation of Dr. Gray, the motion was made by Mr. Patterson,

seconded by Mr. Owens and passed the following trips for employees:

(A) The following employees request to attend Multisensory Structured

Language Education (MSLE) Training Course in Pelham, Alabama on

June 27-July 1, 2016:

Expenses will be paid from general funds.

(B) The following employees request to attend the JAG National Training

Seminar in Orlando, Florida on July 11-15, 2016:

Expenses will be paid by JAG Funds.

Auburn, Alabama on July 13-14, 2016. There will be 30 female students

chaperoned by the following Lauderdale County employees:
