Prayers of Intercession

Palm Sunday—March 29, 2015

With the words “Lord of holy passion and sacrifice,” you are invited to respond:

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

A moment of silence

Moved by the awe of your sacrifice and faithfulness in all things, we pray for all communities of faith, the world, those in need, and all creation.

Lord of holy passion and sacrifice,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

We pray for our church, that we may find ways to comfort the lost, provide safety for those oppressed, and provide real healing to those broken by life's circumstances.

Lord of holy passion and sacrifice,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

We open our whole selves to new life emerging from the earth; for those who labour to birth children, those who are adopting little ones, and for those unable to conceive.

Lord of holy passion and sacrifice,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

We pray that we may find ever-new, ever-meaningful ways to speak the words of your presence in our communities. We pray especially for our partner Anglican Church of Canada. We pray for the congregations of our BC Synod: Living Faith Lutheran in Sechelt and Pastor Ian Nestegaard Paul and for Lord of Life Mission in Sandspit and Pastor James Whaley.

Lord of holy passion and sacrifice,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

We pray for those who care for the sick and injured, the weary and vulnerable--especially nurses, hospice workers, childcare providers, and social workers. We pray now, too, for those we name aloud or quietly in our heart….

(Include those listed in the bulletin for prayer)

Lord of holy passion and sacrifice,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

We pray for this gathering as we enter holy week, walking the last dark days until the unbelievable promise of Easter morning. Sustain our pastor/s, musicians, staff, volunteers, and all those who will lead us through this week to the Paschal Feast.

Lord of holy passion and sacrifice,

HEAR OUR PRAYER.

We entrust all these and the deepest longings of our hearts into your safe keeping, trusting in the faith that has sustained people throughout all the ages of the earth, in the name of the one whose name we claim.

AMEN.
