Intensified Foundations of Math I- Syllabus

Welcome to Myers Park!

My name is Mr. White and I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year. This is a great opportunity to develop a parent-teacher relationship to ensure that your child achieves all of his/her academic goals this year. The following information is essential for your child’s success; so let’s get into it!!

Grading System: CMS operates on a 10-point grading system which is included in the information you received today.

Formal Assessments (70%):
Tests; Projects, Major Quizzes / Informal Assessments: (30%):Written Responses; Class Work & Class Collaboration; Notebooks; Homework; Quizzes
Midterm: 25% of overall grade / Final Exam: 25% of overall grade

Grading Policy: The grading policy for my class is a will be based on percentages of formal and informal assessments. All formal assessments such as tests, major quizzes, and projects will be weighed equally as well as all informal assessments will be weighed equally. Informal assessments include but are not limited to classwork, collaboration, homework, etc. SinceFormal Assessments weigh heavily on your child’s grade it is important for them to take all tests and quizzes, and to complete all projects. Assignments and homework will be checked daily/weekly. I will be checking for students understanding of concepts and will grade accordingly. Along with any written assignments, students should be reviewing class work, notes, and vocabulary on a daily/weekly basis.

Missed Work: Students are responsible for requesting missing assignments when they have been absent. Those assignments will also be located in the classroom for the students to access. Late homework and/or classwork will result in a loss of 10% each day it is not submitted. It is highly recommended to complete all assignments on time. Missing tests or projects will need to be scheduled with Mr. White upon your return to school.
