During the month of September the pastor will continue his series of messages on Today Matters- Making the most of each day.
Friday, September 1 Ephesians 5:1-21 How does Paul describe the way of love? What does it look like? How does he elaborate on holy living? Prayer: Father, we praise you for the life we have in Jesus Christ your Son. May we glorify you in all the things we think or say today.Amen.
Saturday, September 2 Hebrews 12:1,2 Since we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, what should we do? Are you doing it? Prayer: Lord, help us run the race of faith fixing our eyes on you.Amen.
Sunday, September 3 Today Matters: Priorities Prayer: Lord, as we come to worship you today, help us to listen for your Holy Spirit and put into practice what we hear. Amen.
Monday, September 4 Labor Day
Labor Day is on the first Monday of September every year. It was originally organized to celebrate various labor unions' strengths of and contributions to the United States' economy.1 Corinthians 6:19-20 We do we learn about our bodies? Who lives inside us? Who bought us? Therefore, what should we do with our bodies? Prayer:Lord, help us to relax and be refreshed this Labor Day. Amen.
Tuesday, September 5 Genesis 1:26-31 After reading this passage, reflect on the truth that you are created in the image of God. Praise God for what He has done! Prayer: Father, thank you for bringing Bethany Brown, our new Children’s and Youth Director to us. Bless her as she begins her ministry among us.Amen.
Wednesday, September 6 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 What is God’s will concerning your body? Prayer: Lord God, thank you for the Bible Study on Wednesday nights. Bless everyone who comes and help them apply your Holy Word to their life.Amen.
Thursday, September 7 God’s Word affirms the goodness of the human body. When God saw all that he had made, including human beings that he created in his own image, he stepped back and said: “It is very good” Prayer:Lord, thank you for creating us in your image! We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Help us honor you with our bodies. Amen.
Friday, September 8 God created our body with its appetites, our mind with its capacity for reason, our emotions with their responses, and our will with its capacity for decision. The goodness of the body is affirmed by Jesus Christ. We are made in the image of God. We are made for God. Our bodies belong to God. They were created to bring glory to God. Prayer: Lord, you are the author of all that is good. Life is good. Help us to celebrate your goodness today. Amen.
Saturday, September 9 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body.” Prayer: Lord, the Kairos team meets today to prepare for their ministry to the incarcerated men in white. Bless them as they prepare for this important ministry. Amen.
Sunday, September 10 Today Matters: Health Prayer: Thank you for our health, Lord. May we never take it for granted. Help us make healthy choices that honor you, Lord. Amen.
Monday, September 11 Joshua 24:15 What decision did Joshua make? What about you and your family? Prayer: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” May this be true for every family in our church, Lord. Amen.
Tuesday, September 12 Psalm 127:1 Who needs to build your house? Who needs to watch over the city? Why? Prayer: Thank you Lord, that we can look to you for building our families and for protecting our city. Amen.
Wednesday, September 13 Proverbs 24:3,4 How is a home built and established and its rooms filled with beautiful treasures? Prayer:Father, bless all our youth as they gather to learn more about you and grow in their faith. Bless Bethany as she guides the youth ministry. Amen.
Thursday, September 14 Deut. 6:4-9 What should God’s people listen to? What is to be on our hearts? What should we diligently teach our children? Are we? Do we? Prayer: Lord, we love you. We love you with all our heart and soul and strength. May we teach this love to our children. Amen.
Friday, September 15 Proverbs 6:20-23 How should children respond to their father’s command and mother’s teaching? Why? Prayer: Lord, help our kids honor their parents and take their teaching to heart. Amen.
Saturday, September 16 Ephesians 6:1-4 What should children do? Why? Prayer:Father, thank you for Moms and Dads. Help them be a good team in guiding their children. Help their children obey them and honor them. Amen.
Sunday, September 17 Today Matters: Family Prayer: Lord, bless the worship service today. Help us come to church with an attitude of openness and receptivity. Amen.
Monday, September 18 Mark 12:28-31 What is the greatest commandment? Is it your greatest commandment? Prayer: Father, thank you for Brenda Henscey and all her hard work. Bless her in all her administrative tasks. Amen.
Tuesday, September 19 Philippians 4:8 What kinds of things should we think about? What should we ponder and give proper weight and value to? Are we? Prayer: Lord, may our minds be filled with the things that come from you. Things of truth and things that are noble and right and pure. Things that are beautify and praiseworthy. Fill our minds with you, Lord. Amen.
Wednesday, September 20 Romans 8:5-6 What are two ways the mind can be governed? What is the best way? Is that your way? Prayer:Heavenly Father, bless the Bell choir and the Chancel choir as they practice tonight. Help them prepare music that inspires and touches our souls. Amen.
Thursday, September 21 John 16:13-14 What does the Spirit do when he comes? What will he do? Who will he glorify? Prayer: Lord, as people come to the Society of St. Stephens and Food Pantry, help them consider coming to our church on Sunday. Amen.
Friday, September 22 Isaiah 26:3 Having a fixed disposition of trust in God; casting yourself consistently upon God brings peace. “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.” Prayer: Lord, we cast all our cares on you. Lord, take the things we are concerned about and give us what we need. We love you, Lord. We trust you. You are a faithful God. Amen.
Saturday, September 23 Psalm 19:7-14 How is the law of God described and what are the benefits? Reflect on each of these verses. Prayer: Today our friends in deed ministry makes their distribution to students of families in need. Bless this ministry Father. Help these families sense your love in their life. Amen.
Sunday, September 24 Today Matters: Thinking Prayer: Today is a Sabbath day, a day of worship and praise. May we lift our heart in adoration to the King of glory.
Monday, September 25 Romans 12:1,2 What is Paul’s reasonable request? What is pleasing to God? Are you pleasing Him? Prayer: Father, bless the Scouts and the Scout Leaders as they meet tonight to instill good values in the lives of these kids. Amen.
Tuesday, September 26 Luke 9:23-26 If you want to be a disciple of Jesus what must you do? Why? Prayer: Lord, guide and bless the Administrative Council tonight as they gather to do the business of the church. Amen.
Wednesday, September 27 Luke 9:57-62 What is the cost of following Jesus? What is involved? Prayer:Tonight, the youth will gather together. Bless our teenagers, Lord- help them grow deeper in their faith. Amen.
Thursday, September 28 Luke 14:25-35 What does Jesus clarify regarding following him? What does he ask of us? Why? (see verses 34-35) Prayer: Lord, help us to put you first in our life. Help us to surrender all that we are and fully follow you in the way of the cross. Amen.
Friday, September 29 Micah 6:8 What does the Lord require? Prayer:Lord, may we humble ourselves before you and act justlyand love mercy and walk humbly with you. Amen.
Saturday, September 30 Isaiah 58 Reflect and meditate on this great chapter. What questions are asked? How are they answered? Prayer: Lord, may we honor you as you deserve. You are our God and King. May our worship be reflected in our daily living. Amen.
