PRAYER PARTNERS INVITE YOU TO PRAY

Each week the Prayer Partners invite you to pray with us for a specific concern. Our Flat Out Faith campaign is under way. Pray this week for our church. Pray for our leadership, that they would know God’s guidance as they make decisions. Pray for our members, that we too would be ready to accept God’s leading. Pray that God will lead us in discerning God’s plan for Zoar, and what Zoar’s mission should be.

SOLOMON’S PORCH

Solomon’s Porch will meet on Monday, September 19th, at Panera at 7:00 p.m. We will be discussing the extreme weather that our country has experienced from a Biblical point of view. Does God really send these so called “acts of God”? Where is God when hundreds of people are flooded out of their homes? Where is God when the damage is so great that it will take years to repair? Where is God when people’s lives are so disrupted and damaged? Bring your Bible and come for a lively discussion. Call Carole Bohn at (419) 874-5838 for further information.

BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS

MUSIC NOTE FOR WORSHIP

When looked at through the lens of our Flat-Out campaign, there are two phrases that stand out in today’s Hymn of the Day. The third stanza of our congregational response to the Gospel asks, “Have you not bid me love you, God and King; all, all your own, soul, heart, and strength, and mind?” The answer comes in verse four: “Teach me to love you as your angels love, one holy passion filling all my frame...” Spirit of God, Descend upon My Heart (ELW 800) was written by the Dublin-born George Croly (1780-1860) and was first published in London in 1867. The tune, MORECAMBE, was composed by organist/composer Frederick C. Atkinson (1841-1896) in 1870. Coincidentally, this tune was originally intended to go with the words of the hymn Abide with Me (ELW 629), a hymn that speaks of trust, surrender and commitment in the face of death.
