Pray for our Growth Together

Please continue to pray for growth in our Christian community

Eternal Father, look with your love on your people of this benefice and the wider Partnership, and pour upon us the gifts of your Spirit. Draw us to you and one another that our growing unity may bring healing of life to all, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Thought for this week…..by Rev. Trevor Denley

Some years ago, my son and I ascended Carrauntoohil, the highest peak in all Ireland. It was a strenuous effort, but ultimately enjoyable, with a remarkable vision from the top to reward the effort. The tough way up is via the Devil’s Staircase, well named!

Having reached the summit we sat and looked the cloud was low, but gradually the vista was revealed, and it was glorious. It is a popular ascent, but I was astounded at those who just went up and then back down again, having bagged a peak, ticked the box so to speak, but failed to see the real beauty.

We sat in wonder, for ages, so much so we lost track of time and had to hurry down as the cloud descended again. With the commercial pressures of Christmas ever growing, and the public emphasis on the real meaning ever diminishing, it would be easy for us to get wrapped up in the buzzyness, and business of Christmas and miss the point. Just simply ‘doing’ Christmas without experiencing the wonders of the event. That would be a missed opportunity, we know we celebrate something special, the Gift of Christ, the Son of God, so then what better gift is there for us to share than that of the real Gift of Christmas with all whom we meet?As we approach the special day, let’s all resolve to share that gift, not just on 25th, but every day.A blessed and peaceful season to you all,

Blessings,Trev.
