Job Title:PR and Marketing Officer (22.5hours a week to be worked flexibly)

Grade:

Location:Hospiscare, Dryden Road, Exeter

Responsible to:Chief Executive

Accountable to:ChiefExecutive

2.JOB PURPOSE:

  • To promote Hospiscare effectively in the media
  • To anticipate and respond to national initiatives relating to palliative and end of life care
  • To safeguard Hospiscare’s brand and reputation
  • To enhance media and public relations awareness in Hospiscare’s staff and volunteers
  • To provide marketing advice and support to Hospiscare’s fundraising team and education team.

  1. KEY RESULT AREAS/PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To operate within the context of Hospiscare values, communications strategy and key messages.

PR

  • To be responsible for promoting Hospiscare in the media (local and national)
  • To develop good relationships with local media
  • To safeguard brand and reputation
  • To proactively identify stories and issues and place them in the media
  • To advise support groups on media and public relations
  • To engage with clinical staff and volunteers to identify and maintain relationships with patients and supporters who are willing to have their stories used as case studies
  • To develop a bank of case-studies
  • To provide copy for the Annual Report.
  • To provide/advise on copy for internal publications
  • To provide/advise on copy for direct mail appeals and newsletters, including e-newsletters and our website.
  • To work closely with Hospiscare’s Communication Officer and provide cover for her when necessary.

Marketing

  • To provide advice and support to the fundraising team on producing marketing plans for their products (primarily events and activities)
  • To provide advice and support to the education team on producing marketing plans for their external events (primarily courses, study days and conferences)

Key Relationships

  • Hospiscare’s Communication Officer who covers the PR elements of this post during absence
  • Hospiscare’s Fundraising Team and Educatiion Team
  • Hospiscare’s clinical staff, trustees and volunteers
  • Local journalists
  • Help the Hospices Communication Team
