POWERPOINT INSTRUCTIONS – Basic Presentation

  1. Double click on POWERPOINT
  2. Be sure BLANK PRESENTATION has a black dot in the circle – If not, click in the dot
  3. Click OK (2)
  4. Click FORMAT
  5. Click APPLY DESIGN TEMPLATE
  6. Find your template (background) and click on it
  7. Click APPLY
  8. Click in the box CLICK TO ADD TITLE
  9. Type in the TITLE you want for your slide (Introduction)
  10. Click on the box CLIKC TO ADD SUBTITLE]
  11. Type in the SUBTITLE for this slide (who is it by?)
  12. Continue with INSERTING A NEW SLIDE just under this set of directions.

INSERTING A NEW SLIDE

  1. Click INSERT
  2. Click NEW SLIDE
  3. Click on the slides until you find TEXT and CLIP ART (on the right of the screen.)
  4. Click OK
  5. Click in the box on CLICK TO ADD TITLE
  6. Type in the TITLE of your slide
  7. Click in the box on CLICK TO ADD TEXT
  8. Type in the information you want
  9. Press ENTER to get to the next line
  10. Type in more information
  11. Turn the page and follow the ADDING CLIPART directions

ADDING CLIPART

  1. Double click in the box DOUBLE CLICK TO ADD CLIPART
  2. Click on a category (example: music, sports, etc.)
  3. Click on the PICTURE you want and you’ll see a pull down menu
  4. Click on the FIRST PICTURE on that menu and you may see INSERT CLIP
  5. Click outside the picture to set it in place

NOTES:

INSERTING A PHOTOGRAPH FROM A FLOPPY DISK

To insert a picture for the first time if a picture does not already exist in that place.

  1. Go to insert picture and choose the A: drive and select your picture name
  2. You can double click on the picture name and see the photo.
  3. Right click on your mouse and choose the first icon (INSERT)
  4. The picture should show up on your POWERPOINT, then click on your picture and move your picture where you want it

If you want to replace the picture or clip art you already have

  1. Click on the picture you want to replace – you’ll notice small white boxes in each corner
  2. Press the DELETE key
  3. Double click in the box DOUBLE CLICK TO ADD CLIP ART
  4. Click on IMPORT CLIPS
  5. Click on the DOWN ARROW next to MY PICTURES
  6. Click on 3 ½ FLOPPY DRIVE A:
  7. Double click on the file that starts with MVC and a pictures should appear to the right
  8. Click OK
  9. Click on the picture again and a drop down menu will pop up
  10. Click on the FIRST picture of the drop down menu and you may or may not see INSERT CLIP
  11. The picture should appear on your slide
  12. Click outside the picture to set it in place

AUTOMATIC SLIDE CHANGE IN SLIDE SHOW

After your slides are set and you want to set up your show

  1. Click on SLIDE SHOW
  2. Click on SLIDE TRANSITION
  3. Click in AUTOMATICALLY AFTER so there is a check mark-it’s under the advance section to the bottom left of that screen
  4. Click the small up arrow until you see 2 or 3 seconds
  5. Click APPLY TO ALL up at the top right
