POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Director of Shelter Management

Reports To: President & CEO

Positions Reporting to this Position: Assistant Shelter Manager, Service Managers, Part-Time Shelter Resident Assistants

FLSA Status: Exempt Non-exempt Salary Grade: 9

Position Summary [Purpose and Scope]: This position provides management oversight of all aspects of the daily operations of the agency’s Shelter program, security, equipment and facility. Provides supervision of program staff and resident services and assures compliance with programmatic requirements. Functions as a member of the agency leadership team and collaborates with the agency’s outreach program.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

·  Direct the Shelter Program and staff.

·  Ensure all staff answer hotline, provide direct crisis intervention services and offer safety planning with residents; provide child assessments; and document service management and referrals in Alice and files in accordance with FCADV and VOCA requirements.

·  Coordinate all maintenance and repairs, inside and outside, at Shelter facility.

·  Oversee planning of meals and purchase of groceries and other household supplies.

·  Maintain safety and security protocols at Shelter at all times.

·  Provide reports as required for funders.

·  Keep Executive Director apprised of activities, informally and by written word.

·  Represent Shelter program with stakeholders in the community.

·  Perform other duties as necessary or assigned.

Education or Equivalent: Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related human services field preferred; related work experience may be substituted for education; prior experience in providing domestic violence-related services and program management.

Knowledge/Skills Requirements: Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, personal computer skills and knowledge of management principles. Candidate must possess significant knowledge and commitment to feminist, domestic violence, and sexual violence doctrines. Must pass Florida Department of Law Enforcement criminal background check, be eligible to work in the U.S., have reliable transportation and a valid Florida driver’s license. Upon hiring: must pass CORE Competency Training for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault; pass and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification; and document 16 hours of approved continuing education annually, with at least 6 hours in trainings related to sexual assault.

Physical Requirements: Position requires physical ability to lift approximately 25 lbs., sit or be on feet for extend periods of time, bend freely, and reach objects over head. Must be able to converse on a telephone and use a keyboard effectively.
