The School of Food Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology focuses on the researches of food chemistry and food safety,as well as the development of innovative technologies of agricultural products.

Now we are seeking suitable applications from candidates who have obtained their PhD within the last five years in engineering/technology, science, agricultural and other applied sciences, as postdoctoral fellows in the following research themes:

Theme #1: Dairy Chemistry

Successful candidate will be expected to develop and participate in research on the functional properties of yak milk compositions, including caein, whey proteins, peptides, and fatty acids. Knowledge and experience with aspects of food chemistry, analytical chemistry, biological science, health sciences, and relative research experience will be beneficial.

Theme #2: Modified starch

Successful candidate will be expected to develop and participate in research on chemical and physical modified starch, enzymatic modified starch, anduse of innovative treatments to develop new derived starch.Experience in food processing, food science and relative research experience will be beneficial.

Theme #3: Innovative treatment of plant proteins

Successful candidate will be expected to develop and participate in research using innovative treatments to develop new plant protein products. Candidate will be expected to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to work in this area.

Theme #4: The analysis of food composition

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and participate in research using HPLC, HPLC-MS, GC, GC-MS to measure the food composition. Candidate will be expected to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to work with those tools.

The position and salary

A two-year postdoctoral position will be provided. Salary is $20,000/year, and a research funding of ¥50,000 will also be provided.

General duties and responsibilities

Conduct original research/reviews and prepare scientific articles for publication. Provide support, guidance and mentorship for postgraduate students, and lectures for undergraduate students.

Personal attributes requirements

Relevant research experience, ability to think critically, passion for research, Fluent English speaking and writing skill preferred.
