JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary

You will report to the Health & Fitness Manager and you will be responsible for the efficient daily running of the fitness facilities. Duties will include offering advice on fitness training, writing fitness programmes, undertaking inductions, Delivering the fitness development plan and at all times ensuring customers receive a consistently high standard of customer care.

Job Activities

Service Delivery

  1. To supervise activities in the gym and ensure all equipment is operated in a manner consistent with safe working practice, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the facility.
  2. To undertake inductions and exercise programming.
  3. To write realistic and innovative fitness programmes for members and casual gym users, maximising the usage and benefits of the Smart card, magnet and club lead system.
  4. Deliver the fitness development plan to ensure attrition and retention of customers, this will include the delivery of mini sessions within the gym and any other retention tool required.
  5. To undertake all day to day cleaning and maintenance of the equipment and fittings, to the highest possible standards, bringing to the attention of the Gym Manager any faults or repairs required.
  6. To maintain customer records of programme of activities and lifestyle programmes
  7. To assist the members in their use of the facilities, encouraging maximum use.
  8. Undertaking and/or assisting in devising individual fitness assessments, programmes and testing, exercise prescription, GP referrals and specialist inductions.
  9. To assist in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the facility, on a shift rota basis
  10. To establish and maintain good relationships with members, ensuring that an appropriate ambience is maintained in the facility making customers feel welcomed and valued.
  11. To ensure that the centre is secure and maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and repair.
  12. To have a strong interest in health & wellbeing and the benefits afforded by regular exercise with the ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  13. To provide membership and sales advice for users and non-users.
  14. To liaise with the Membership Advisors to ensure all new members receive a medical screening, par q and a full, comprehensive induction.
  15. To refer any members for medical clearance who do not fit within safe exercise guidelines as stipulated by SLT.
  16. To ensure all facilities are cleaned and maintained to agreed and satisfactory standards during all hours of opening
  17. To maintain a professional attitude towards work and ensure operational procedures are adhered to at all times.
  18. To ensure all users have valid membership to use the facility.
  19. To administer first aid to staff and customers as and when required.
  20. To be responsible for opening and closing of the gym areas.
  21. To work as part of a team to overcome problems and ensure targets and objectives are met.
  22. To assist in any absence cover as appropriate.

Communication

  1. To engage in proactive and effective communication with staff and customers.
  2. To assist in the communication and promotion of the centre's services.
  3. Assist all customers who have queries complaints or require information, in a polite, friendly and helpful manner.
  4. To make recommendations for improvements to the service and ensure feedback is communicated to the appropriate staff.

Staff Training

  1. All staff within the Centre will take part in specific training programmes and an interest in their own personal development.

General

  1. Maintain a professional attitude towards work and ensure operational procedures are adhered to at all times.
  2. To comply at all times with SLT’s Disciplinary Policy.
  3. Take reasonable steps at all times to ensure the health and safety of yourself, other staff and members of the public who may be affected by your actions or omissions at work.
  4. Undertake such other related duties as may be allocated from time to time by the Management Team.

Education and Training:
(i)Recognised Fitness Instructor Qualification. Minimum requirement of REPS level 2
(ii)Exercise referral to Level 3
(iii)First Aid Certificate.
(iv)Industry related teaching qualifications.
(v)Spinning, circuits, ETM
