POST TITLE: - ESOL & Employability Skills Tutor

RESPONSIBLE TO:Curriculum Team Leader

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To teach learners across a range of abilities and ages in a way that suits individual learner and is motivating, supportive and inspiring.
  1. To contribute enthusiastically to the development of the curriculum both individually and as part of a team in line with provider, awarding, inspecting & funding body requirements.
  1. To prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, assignments and assessments as required and to assess learners work in line with the organisation quality standard and awarding body requirements.
  1. To provide learners’ with opportunities to gain basic and/or functional skills qualifications and to liaise with appropriate curriculum team leader
  1. To use new learning technologies in undertaking teaching and other duties
  1. To keep up to date with subject specialism and to attend training identified.
  1. To contribute to the development of resource materials.
  1. To be a personal tutor for one or more groups of learners as required.
  1. To act as course leader as required.
  1. To keep records, monitor and track learners’ progress and to keep management information and statistical data to fulfil the requirements of the organisation’s QA and information systems and for audit purposes
  1. To contribute to the preparation for internal audits and verification, external verification and inspections
  1. To undertake administrative duties as required by the organisation quality standard.
  1. To undertake risk assessments for teaching, events and trips and visits as required
  1. To cover for absent colleagues in line with contractual agreements.
  1. To be a member of course teams, to attend course team meetings and make an active contribution to course team meetings.
  1. To work with student and learning support services within the Organisation to ensure learners have access to all available support.
  1. To contribute to interviewing, recruitment, advice and guidance for learners and to assist at advice and guidance sessions during evenings and Saturdays as required by the contract of employment.
  1. To develop effective links with employers, local community and schools.
  1. To support the organisation management team with commercial activities, marketing and resource planning.
  1. To participate in the Organisation’s Teaching Observation and appraisal processes.
  1. To carry out such duties and responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and associated legislation as described in the Organisation’s Health and Safety policy documents. To promote Health and safety to learners.
  1. To be aware of equality and diversity and safeguarding opportunities and demonstrate these principles in all aspects of work.
  1. Such other duties commensurate with the grade of the post as may be reasonably required.

Contract:20hrs per week

This role is within Adult & Community Learning to deliver ESOL and employability Skills at a range of levels to adults. You will have relevant teaching experience with this learner group in a similar setting. The role requires an approach to teaching and learning, which is dynamic, inspiring and engaging making use of a wide range of teaching strategies and techniques. You will have strong team working, classroom facilitation and management skills. You will have excellent Organisational skills and will comply with Organisation requirements including planning, assessing, and maintaining accurate records.
