To the Authorities of Secondary, Community and Comprehensive Schools

Revision of Salaries of Teachers and Special Needs Assistants

The Minister for Education and Science wishes to inform Management Authorities, Teachers and Special Needs Assistants of Secondary, Community and Comprehensive Schools that new scales of salary have been introduced with effect from 1st October 2002. Rates of pay for teachers and special needs assistants have been increased by 4% as a result of the application of the final phase of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. The revised salary scales are set out in the schedule to this Circular which is available on the Department’s web-site at A printer friendly version of the schedule is located in the School Staff/Post-Primary section of the web-site.

Management authorities are requested to bring the contents of the circular and the schedule to the circular to the attention of teachers and Special Needs Assistants in their schools.

They are also requested to give a copy of the circular and the schedule to the parents’ representatives on the Board of Management, where such exists, or to the Parents’ Association /National Parents Council representatives or other appropriate representatives of the parents

Ba mhaith leis an Aire Oideachais agus Eolaíochta Údaráis Bhainistíochta, Múinteoirí agus Cúntóirí Riachtanas Speisialta i Scoileanna Cuimsitheacha, Pobail agus Dara Leibhéal a chur ar an eolas go bhfuil scálaí nua tuarasatail á gcur i bhfeidhm le héifeacht ó 1ú Deireadh Fómhair 2002. Tá ardú de 4% tagtha ar rátaí pá do mhúinteoirí agus do chuntóirí riachtanas speisialta mar thoradh ar fheidhmiú chéim deiridh an Chláir um Ráthúnas agus Cothroime.Tá na scálaí athbhreithnithe leagtha amach sa sceideal leis an gCiorclán seo atá le fáil ar láithreán gréasáin na Roinne ag Tá leagan den sceideal is féidir a phriontáil le fáil trí chliceáil ar “School Staff” agus ansin “Post-Primary”.
Iarrtar ar bhainistíocht ábhar an chiorcláin agus sceideal an chiorcláin a thabhairt ar aird múinteoirí agus Cúntóirí Riachtanas Speisialta ina scoileanna.
Iarrtar freisin orthu cóip den chiorclán agus an sceideal a thabhairt d’ionadaithe tuismitheoirí ar an mBord Bainistíochta, más ann dóibh, nó d’ionadaithe Chumann Tuismitheoirí/Chomhairle Náisiúnta Tuismitheoirí nó ionadaithe tuismitheoirí cuí eile.
