Higher Education at Selby College is in a phase of expansion and we are looking for a forward-thinking, academically-focussed individual to take on this exciting new role to drive continuous improvement in Higher Education. We are looking for an outstanding practitioner with excellent communication skills to be able to support Higher Education staff across a range of curriculum areas. The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of Higher Education quality systems and take on responsibility for the enhancement of academic practices, in the support and development of Higher Education assessment, learning, teaching and research. We are looking for someone who is able to work as part of a small, focused and motivated team to enhance our capability using their knowledge/expertise.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

·  In liaison with the Assistant Director of Higher Education and in accordance with awarding body and Quality Assurance Agency requirements, maintain oversight of a range of Higher Education academic and assessment practices including: Turnitin and assessment submissions; assignment brief verification; assessment policy compliance; feedback, marking and moderation activities etc.

·  In liaison with the Assistant Director of Higher Education, initiate, develop and drive activities to enhance academic practice, learning and teaching and assessment including e-Learning.

·  In liaison with the Assistant Director of Higher Education, initiate, develop and drive activities to promote research and scholarly activity for Higher Education staff.

·  In collaboration with HE staff, carry out a range of HE training and development activities sharing best practice to enhance academic practice, learning and teaching, assessment and research in Higher Education programmes. This could include: advice and guidance, workshops, peer observation, training events, conferences, mentoring etc.

·  Assist in the review of curriculum content, guiding/advising staff in relation to programme development, promoting cross-curricular delivery where appropriate, and contributing to programme approval and review processes.

·  To perform all necessary administrative and managerial tasks associated with the post including:

o  Liaising closely with awarding bodies (Universities, Pearson) and ensuring that all activities comply with regulations and align with the UK Quality Code for Higher Education/QAA

o  Generating and contributing to relevant, accurate and high quality reporting systems for collating and synthesising information.

o  Contributing to the development and growth of HE provision through student, staff, employer and stakeholder liaison and marketing activities

o  Contributing to Higher Education quality processes including assisting with admissions, external and internal quality reviews, audits etc.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Hours: 18.5 Hours per week

Holidays: 25 days pro rata rising to 30 after 5 years service

Salary: Band 3 28,089 – 32,696
