POST:HSE Officer/Facilities Team Leader

HOURS:37.5 hours per week (18 month fixed term contract)

BASE: LOROS Hospice, Groby Road, Leicester

RESPONSIBLE TO: Facilities & Operations Manager

INTERNAL CONTACTS:All staff, volunteers within the charity and its two subsidiary companies.

JOB SUMMARY:

To provide health and safety and facilities support to LOROS Hospice, Enterprises and Lotteries, reporting to the Facilities & Operations Manager in delivering a safe working environment for all staff, volunteers, patients, visitors and contractors whilst on LOROS premises.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  1. To work with the Facilities & Operations Manager to ensure all areas of the organisation are legally compliant.
  1. Team lead the Operations department administration team; and lead / co-ordinate the Facilities Officers to ensure planned and reactive maintenance to the Main Hospice is completed when due and within budget.
  1. Carry out legal compliance audit on the facilities management function.
  1. Review / produce new (where necessary) fire risk assessments for all locations, working with the respective Heads of Department to implement any necessary changes to ensure legal compliance.
  1. Carry out annual workplace inspections at our Charity Shops and Lotteries Office and inspect H&S folders to ensure up to date with training records, maintenance records, inspections etc.
  1. Carry out annual workplace inspections with Heads of Department at the Hospice and review all risk assessments with them to ensure they are current and relevant.
  1. Work with the Facilities & Operations Manager in the review of existing health and safety management systems, policies and the development and implementation of new health and safety policies.
  1. Investigate the practicalities of introducing workplace Health and Safety Champions and what that those roles would entail and how we would train and empower staff.
  1. Deliver Fire training, Incident Reporting training, Health, Safety & Wellbeing training to staff.
  1. Chair HSE steering group meetings working with heads of departments in achieving organisational HSE objectives and targets
  1. Attending other organisational meetings with regards to matters of health and safety.
  1. Review current incident reporting mechanisms with other stakeholders to see where this can be improved.
  1. Be a member of the Hospice site Fire Team.
