Job Summary;
Contribute to the overall Fundraising Strategy and take responsibility for the delivery of the agreed Strategy and ensure all fundraising activities include actions which reflect the Marketing and Communications Strategy.
Lead, manage, support, motivate and develop the fundraising team to ensure agreed targets are met and drive the growth of fundraising income.
Personally lead on the public engagement appeal, promoting Woodlands services, building the Hospice’s visibility with key audiences and encouraging individuals across all communities to support the Hospice in a variety of different ways increasing the donor base and hospice share of charitable giving locally.
Lead on the development of ‘digital’ fundraising ensuring the balance is maintained with those who still prefer face to face and traditional means of contact.
Ensure compliance with the Fundraising Code of Practice, the Data Protection Act (General Data Protection Regulations(GDPR) from May 2018) and other regulatory compliance such as Health and Safety.
Key Tasks and responsibilities
Take responsibility for the delivery of the agreed Fundraising Strategy which is based on donor experience and focussed on regular giving/support helping to ensure long term growth and sustainability.
Ensure all fundraising activities include actions which reflect the Marketing and Communications Strategy.
Set, deliver and monitor annual fundraising plans and budgets, effectively managing resources to maximise income, minimise costs and ensure a good return on investment.
Work closely with Finance Manager to ensure budgets, targets and forecasts are realistic and in accordance with agreed strategy. Compile relevant elements of the annual budgetsand ensure that income and expenditure are monitored to ensure early indications of deviations from budget
Ensure all main fundraising programmes have a cost benefit analysis and a budgeted plan.
Lead, manage, support, motivate and develop the Fundraising Team (individuals and as a team) in order to guarantee achievement of all fundraisingobjectives and targets.
Encourage collaborative working, openness, positive attitudes, mutual understanding and a strong work ethic to maximise the effectiveness of the fundraising team
Establish an effective performance management framework for Fundraising, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Senior Management and Trustees
Oversee the production of the fundraising publications including leaflets, newsletters and marketing materials including fundraising presence on the website and in social media.
Develop and implement strategies to inform and engage with the public in local communities to stimulate active contributions and an increased donor base.
Personally contribute to the overall income goal by leading on a public appeal to stimulate public engagement and a growth in Hospice share of charitable giving in local communities. Become the voice of Woodlands Fundraising team and visible in local communities.
Act as a passionate Ambassador for Woodlands Hospice, raising the profile and inspiring others to want to be keen supporters.
Develop new ways of engaging with current and potential supporters/donors in collaboration with fundraising and clinical colleagues.
Ensure effective stewardship of donors encouraging long term loyalty. Ensure they are welcomed (if new), thanked, informed about how their donation helps the Hospice, kept up to date with developments and made to feel an important part of Woodlands.
Develop Woodlands Hospice organisational ability for public fundraising together with fundraising colleagues. Consider database, infrastructure, banking, digital, welcome journeys, retention.
Oversee the development and maintenance of relationships with key media contacts across a range ofdifferent media, acting as a spokesperson and representative of the Hospice as required.
Identify and maximise PR opportunities for fundraising, generating news stories to stimulate public involvement.
Support all fundraising activities with a strong ditigally-driven donor experience whilst retaining the face to face, traditional methods of engagement where required.Maximise online/electronic donation opportunities, developing the use of IT, website, mobile communications and social media in fundraising.
Manage donor research, identifying new funding opportunities ensuring the Hospice is able to present a compelling case for support and demonstration of impact.
Lead on compliance and an ethical approach to fundraising so that appropriatestandards are set and that teams and colleagues take responsibility to implement and fulfil all required standards in accordance with the Fundraising Code of Practice and the Data Protection Act (GDPR from May 2018).
Introduce best practice procedures and work flow in all areas ofresponsibility
In conjunction with the Administration and Volunteer Services Manager ensure the Fundraising Volunteer network is effectively recruited, managed, supported and retained.
Inspire staff, volunteers, trustees and patrons of theHospice to ensure income opportunities are maximised.
Work closely with the Trading Manager with cross over functions
Participate in working groups with fundraising, trading and marketing
Governance and Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with the Fundraising Regulator Code of Fundraising Practice, the Data Protection Act (General Data Protection Regulations(GDPR) from May 2018), Information Governance and other regulatory compliance such as Health and Safety.
Ensure fundraising guidance is created, reviewed and kept up to date to ensure supporters operating in aid of, or on behalf of Woodlands Hospice are provided with up to date knowledge of legislation, Health and Safety and Hospice policies and procedures.
Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are developed and maintained for all relevant fundraising activities
Ensure all fundraising activities are delivered to a consistency high quality, to time and within overall resources made available
Represent the Hospice in a professional and appropriate manner at all times
Keep up to date with current charity legislation and regulation relating to fundraising activities.
Ensure all Fundraising activities are legal and ethical and are carried out in a way compatible with Woodlands reputation for being a professional, caring and progressive organisation.
As a member of the Governance Committee, work closely with the full committee to assess and manage organisational risk, in particular those associated with Fundraising.
Education, training and development
Maintain high professional standards and keep abreast of relevant issues taking responsibility for own personal and professional development.
Attend mandatory training as required.
Educate team members with relevant areas of fundraising and encourage a culture of learning and development.

Act in ways that support equality and diversity and work within the spirit and detail of legislation including the Equality Act 2011 paying particular attention to how this impacts across all fundraising activities e.g. impaired vision, disabled persons etc.
Confidentiality
Information available within the duties of this post, which is strictly confidential, must not in any circumstances be passed on, either directly or indirectly. A contravention of confidentiality is regarded very seriously by the Hospice and may lead to disciplinary action.
Health and Safety
Responsible for ensuring all Hospice managed events have a full risk assessment with safety measures in place.
All employees are responsible for taking reasonable care for both their own health and safety and also the health and safety of colleagues. Staff are responsible for ensuring that they do not intentionally misuse or interfere with anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare e.g. misuse of equipment.
Administration responsibility
Oversee the maintenance of up to date records on the DonorflexCRM system, ensuring all donor activity is effectively recorded and accessible to other staff as permitted.
Write and present regular reports for the Chief Executive, Board of Trustees or Senior Management Team as and when required.
Research
Lead and develop any research activities to further develop the Hospice’s fundraising capacity encouraging innovation to establish new or additional income streams and opportunities to raise the Hospice’s profile.
Strategic role
Work with the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team in the development of the Hospice’s Fundraising Strategy.
Contribute to the development of organisational strategies and business plans.
HR management
Provide effective leadership, direction and performance management of the Fundraising team, to develop and enable all staff to reach their full potential and to achieve high standards of professional conduct and practice.
Maintain a positive working environment, acting as a positive role model to promote team working, respect, innovation and excellence and encouraging cross-team working.
Ensure all staff within the team receive an appropriate induction, regular support and supervision and are appraised on an annual basis to agree and monitor objectives and personal development plans.
Financial responsibility
Develop a robust and up to date financial plan for Fundraising which includes production of annual budgets, forecasting, regular reports and evaluations.
Ensure that up to date financial information on trends in income and expenditure in relation to all Fundraising activities is developed, maintained and communicated on a regular basis.
Ensure the fundraising team adheres to all agreed financial procedures and promotes good stewardship.
Oversee in conjunction with the Finance Manager, Gift Aid claims ensuring income generation is maximised through tax efficient giving.
Adhere to VAT regulations as prescribed by the Finance Manager..
As a member of the Finance Committee and Income Generation Committee work closely with colleagues in all financial matters
Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Chief Executive to develop and deliver the Hospice business plan.
