Post: Eventsand Community Fundraising Assistant

Main purpose of job: Assisting with the planning and delivery of Hospice fundraising events and community fundraising campaigns, as directed by the Events and Community Fundraising Co-ordinator, and supporting people in the community fundraising for the Hospice. To contribute to the planning of calendar of events and campaigns. To support their delivery by working effectively with contacts in the community, suppliers, volunteers and participants. To maximise the potential of the fundraising database and marketing opportunities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Events and Community Fundraising Coordinator to contribute to the generation of new ideas for Hospice events and fundraising campaigns for community groups.
  • Lead on the planning of select Hospice events and support the delivery of all events as part of the Events and Community Team.
  • Liaise with external suppliers to ensure the timely and efficient running of events and campaigns.
  • Maximise use of the fundraising database to keep accurate records of expenditure, income, the status of events, supporter communications, community group pledges and event participation. Accurately report on these as required.
  • Assist in the generation of marketing materials with the Hospice's design agency, and the distribution of such materials.
  • Manage mailings to the Hospice database about event and community initiatives, extracting data from the database, co-ordinating print and distribution.
  • Maintain the events and community pages on the Hospice website and manage social media messages around events and community fundraising, co-ordinating activity closely with the Marketing and Communications Officer.
  • Draft press releases, arrange for accompanying photographs, and distribute to appropriate media.
  • Lead the promotion of third-party challenge event opportunities (e.g. 10k events) and provide excellent stewardship to maximise participants’ fundraising
  • Deliver excellent supporter care to individuals and groups in the community who are fundraising for the Hospice.
  • Attend Hospice and community group events (on occasion as the lead contact) to assist in the smooth running of the event and to positively represent the organisation where required.
  • Organise street collections and bucket shakes, co-coordinating volunteer attendance and reporting on results to fulfilllicense obligations.
  • Act as the lead point of contact with the Fundraising Volunteers group, supporting them maximise their fundraising at Hospice and community events, providing resources and chairing meetings as required.
  • Produce and distribute the fundraising volunteers e-newsletter, to help recruit new occasional volunteers.
  • Ensure stocks of resources for events and community initiatives are maintained and stored safely and accessibly.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of all events and campaigns,aspartofacontinuouscycleofself-improvement.
  • Tobecompliant at alltimeswithallcurrentandrelevant legislation; including:
  • ensuring compliance with the Code of Fundraising practice and championing best practice in fundraising.

  • To work closely with the rest of the Fundraising Team, sharing leads and knowledge to maximum effect.
