Together Towards ZERO is a response to increasing consumer demand for sustainable products in a time of global challenges such as climate change, water scarcity and public health issues. The programme is an integral part of our SAIL’22 strategy and consists of four major ambitions – ZERO carbon footprint, ZERO water waste, ZERO irresponsible drinking and a ZERO accidents culture – each with individual and measurable targets.

The "Carlsberg Young Scientists’ Community" will be led by the Carlsberg Research Laboratory - home to ground-breaking developments such as the pH-scale, method for purifying yeast and climate-tolerant barley. As one of our young scientists, you will spend three years working with fellow Postdocs and other leading scientists to fuel innovative solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges – and in particular, our 2030 targets of eliminating carbon emissions and halving water usage at our breweries. In the spirit of our purpose, you will be a vital part of the community, and solutions created will be shared with the rest of the world so that others can benefit.

The position
In the position as Postdocs/scientist you will be engaging with Carlsberg’s main stakeholders - primarily Group Supply Chain, Group Sustainability and Carlsberg Research Laboratory
You will be part of our "Carlsberg Young Scientists‘ Community" with Postdocs/scientists located in either Copenhagen/Denmark, at the Carlsberg Research Laboratory, or in Ziegelbrücke /Switzerland at Carlsberg Supply Chain.
As a Postdoc/scientist, you will join an experienced team of science-based scientists, engineers and commercial leaders, reporting to the Principal Scientist in Denmark or to the Global Utilities Director in Switzerland.
Our preferred candidate
We are looking for six Postdocs/scientists with the following expertise and record of accomplishment in the following expertise areas:
ZERO Water Waste
1. World-class scientists with an established applied and strategic research record of excellence in waste-water treatment solutions.
2. World-class scientists with an established applied and strategic research record of excellence in recycling of process water & solutions
Zero Carbon Footprint
1. World-class scientists with an established applied and strategic research record of excellence in packaging materials in relation to carbon footprint
2. World-class scientists with an established applied and strategic research record of excellence in recovery of heat from processes and solutions for total energy integrations
We expect that you have the following competencies and experience:
A competent scientific researcher with a Ph.D. degree obtained within the past five years and with an industrial and customer focused mind-set.
You should preferably possess a Ph.D. in any of the following engineering disciplines: Material science (packaging), thermodynamics (thermal engineering), water and wastewater dynamics and quality standards.
The most important conditions would be fluent in English, proof of achievements and the interest in rethinking. The position would be for a duration of 3 years.
You should be able to document significant scientific capacity within the disciplines in the form of publications, research-based patents or similar
You possess a strong scientific mind-set and experience of working in a results-focused environment is key.
You have demonstrated or have the mind-set in the following critical competencies:

Travel: Some travel is required.

About Carlsberg Supply Chain (CSC)
Our responsibilities are End to End. Procurement of our materials (direct & indirect), manufacturing/brewing and customer service and Logistics.
CSC manages the world-wide brewery network in Carlsberg Group, handles the global procurement processes, sets the global standards for brewing technology and logistics services and ensures end-to-end planning through the entire supply chain.
By integrating these functions, we improve the utilisation of our assets, standardise and streamline processes, increase speed and efficiency and improve customer service.
