Post:Development Officer – Funding & Enterprise

Reports to:CEO

Responsible for:Development volunteers

Job Purpose

To support ACVO in its remit to “involve, represent, support, develop and advocate on behalf of the 3rd sector in Aberdeen City”.

This will be undertaken by :

  • Providing fundraising, business planning and development support to 3rd sector organisations working or based in Aberdeen city.at all stages of their life cycle..

Main Tasks

  • To provide one to one advice, coaching and support to 3rd sector organizations
  • Review and comment on funding applications internally and externally
  • Ensure wide distribution of information on sources of funding
  • Engage with the private sector to broker, signpost, create opportunities, engage with the 3rd sector.
  • Be involved in design, development, management of projects within ACVO
  • Design, deliver, facilitate training courses and programmes for the 3rd sector.
  • To build good working relationships with partner organisations and stakeholders.
  • To ensure records relevant to our clients are maintained accurately in the MILO database.
  • To work with the wider team to promote good practice within the sector.
  • To represent ACVO appropriately at functions, meetings and events.
  • To participate in regular team and staff meetings of ACVO.
  • Any other reasonable duties, which may arise from time to time within the post holders’ capabilities.
  • Keep up a working knowledge of the legislation relevant to ACVO and this role
  • Maintain own personal and professional development

•Working out of hours and weekends to support 3rd sector projects

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Sound understanding and experience of Third Sector funding/fundraising/finance streams business processes and organisational development
  • Ability to interact at all levels in organisations and pitch training and advice as appropriate
  • Literate in common IT software (MS-office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), E-mail, Internet).
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to use own initiative and to work effectively alone and as part of a team.
  • Ability to network, form and maintain relationships, and build partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders in order to raise the profile of ACVO.
