Post Title: Assistive Technologist Assistant
Salary: SCP 6-9 (£8,009pa - £8,688pa actual salary)
Hours: 22.5 hours (3 days per week) Term time only plus 9 days in the holidays
Holiday Entitlement: Term Time Only based on 42 weeks plus Holiday Entitlement calculated incremental based on service

ROLE PURPOSE

AT purpose: The role of Assistive Technology integrates mainstream technology with specialist assistive technology in order to support young people with complex learning difficulties including severe to profound learning difficulties, sensory impairment/sensory processing difficulties and physical disabilities. AT provides opportunities for our students to access innovative, cost effective solutions to support their communication, independence and access to learning. The role of the AT apprentice will support the Assistive Technologist in the development of AT in school concentrating on a number of areas as highlighted in the Job Description.

HOW YOU WILL BE MEASURED IN YOUR ROLE

Following a successful appointment you will discuss and agree your initial KPI’s with your line manager and this will be reviewed and monitored at regular intervals over the first 6 months of your tenure as AT/IT Apprentice.
The Performance Management cycle will incorporate regular review meetings in the form of supervisions and an annual Performance Appraisal (PA). This process will monitor progress against your targets. As KPI’s are successfully achieved these will be refreshed.
Agreement at the end of this post description by the post holder and line manager acknowledges the post description and KPIs for the role and how the KPIs will be measured.

AT Responsibilities and Duties
·  Ad hoc 1st line response to general IT queries in school
·  Responsible for the maintenance and checks of class IT Boxes
·  Continue to collate the AT library of Resources
·  Develop an AT catalogue of equipment and maintain
·  Set up Wake up and Shake up each morning 08:30 – 09:30 (apart from Assembly day)
·  Shadow Assistive Technologist in class during ICT sessions in the first instance with a view to supporting these sessions to help students in achieving their targets
·  Production of low tech resources
·  Working alongside the Level 3 ICT and AT provide Ad Hoc Training; to raise the level of ICT competence in school through one to one support or group training sessions.
·  Raising of PO for purchases and chasing goods where necessary
·  Support AT/Teacher with the development of ICT Pathway / Matrix
·  Create ICT activities for students using software such as Board Maker, My Board, SMART Table activities, Omi Reflex, Omi Interactive (Training to be provided)
·  Continually research latest Innovative technologies

No Smoking Policy
·  Seashell Trust operates a no smoking policy in line with legislation and this applies to all staff, students and visitors
Dress Code
·  Staff should dress appropriately for the work and activities they undertake in their day to day roles. Details can be found in the Trusts Dress Code policy and is covered in the induction process.
Policies and Procedures
·  All staff are required to undertake an induction at which a number of policies and procedures will be detailed and other will be signposted to be reviewed during your probationary period and subsequently your supervisions which will be held on a regular basis with your line manager.
Confidentiality and Data Protection
·  All staff must maintain confidentiality of information about students and staff and meet the needs of the Data Protection Act (1998) at all times. Staff must follow the Trusts Policies and Procedures in this area. Any confidential information gain by a member of staff in their role must not be communicated to other persons except where required in the recognised course of duty.
Use of Technology
·  The Trust is making increased use of computer technology and the majority of staff should expect to use automated information systems in their work in order to improve quality and co-ordination of services, and to enable timely and accurate information and communication. The Trust will provide any necessary training.
Attendance at Meetings
·  As part of the communication processes in place to keep all staff informed and up to date about matters relating to their jobs and employment staff will be required to attend the following meetings within their working time, reasonable notice of these meetings will be given, where this is not possible this will be due to exceptional circumstances :

Continuous Professional Development
·  All staff have a responsibility to continue their professional learning and development that supports them in carrying out their day to day roles. Staff will be supported in this through the Trust’s Probationary Period (all posts are subject to a six month probation period), Supervision, Performance Appraisal and staff development processes. Staff will be required to maintain an annual journal of their Continuous Professional Development.
Professional Registration
·  All staff who are required to be a member of a professional body are required to hold relevant registration and must comply with the standards and guidelines of their professional practice, education and conduct and must act at all times within the boundary of the code of conduct.
Additional Duties
·  To undertake any reasonable additional duties which you may be required to be undertake as requested by your line manager.
