Post: Communications and Volunteer Coordinator

Report to: Locality Manager

Main Function:The Communications and Volunteer Coordinator role works with the Locality Manager and the Drink Wise Age Well Team to develop and implement, a communication strategy to deliver the key message of Drink wise age well to to various audiences using a range of mediums. As well as a strategy for the recruit, management and support volunteers to be actively and meaningfully involved within the programme across the Western Trust area

Responsibilities:

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To develop, implement and review a volunteer strategy for the recruitment, training, support and retention of volunteers across the service.
  • Develop regular recruitment campaigns to engage volunteers in the Drink Wise Age Well programme
  • Liaise with staff within the Drink Wise Age Well programme to coordinate the work of the volunteers, ensuring consistency of support and opportunity across the service area.
  • Coordinate induction and ongoing support of Drink Wise Age Well volunteers
  • Link with UK consortium to share and implement good practice in relation to volunteering
  • Manage the create, production, and dissemination of printed publications in line with Drink Wise Age Well NIs communication requirements (such as bi-annual newsletter, annual report, course brochures, and exhibition and event postcards)
  • Manage create and selection of appropriate photos for print and electronic communications
  • Support the development and implementation of high visibility campaigns
  • Develop and coordinate production schedules and maintain ongoing relationships

with graphic designers, mail houses, printers, photographers etc.

  • Evaluate and negotiate supplier contracts including photographers
  • Adhere to the Drink Wise Age Well branding guidelines and Addiction NI procedures and provide feedback on areas for review and development.
  • Collaboratively manage and coordinate creation and update of web-content;
  • responsible for content-related protocols to keep web site up-to-date
  • Work with technology and education staffs to ensure ongoing improvement of website, including phased updates and redesigns
  • Implement e-communications for donors and general public
  • Provide organisation-wide e-communications support; manage contact database
  • Lead on Drink Wise Age Well NIs maintaining and developing up-to-date and effective electronic communications and actively engaging the staff and volunteers in this work.
  • Pioneer Drink Wise Age Wells social media participation
  • Actively develop, monitor and review the DWAW NIs online reputation.

Effective Communication

  • To develop, implement and review an effective communication strategy to maximize the Drink wise age well message to a wide range of stakeholders.

Clarity of Purpose

  • Develop and implement media relations program for agreed events or activities
  • Write and distribute press releases
  • Pitch to the local and national media to secure media placement
  • Develop and Maintain an effective media archive.

General
