Post: CHESS Fundraiser

Reporting to: Executive Director

Line Management Responsibility: None

Hours per week: 37.5 hours

Salary Scale: £28,500 pa

Overall purpose of the job

The role of the CHESS fundraiser is to assist in developing and maintaining of CHESS’ external presence though a number of mechanisms including Implementation of new fund raising ideas; event management; developing a team of volunteers to contribute to the conceptual and practical running of events; raising participation of existing strategies; Liasing with companies, community groups, and stakeholder relationships with the purpose of increasing income.

Working hours: 37.5 hours weekly Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend working required. There is a possibility of additional hours as the need for project work arises.

Main duties & responsibilities

·  The sourcing of donations for generating income, including the development of and submission of funding bids.

·  Develop a team of volunteers to work alongside and support you with fundraising for CHESS

·  Develop a fundraising committee and team as well as chair meetings for this team.

·  Research relevant income sources, events and activities in which CHESS would have a beneficial participation.

·  Research grant and other fund making bodies to establish the necessary funding ethos, terminologies and strategies needed for success

·  Establish and maintain contact with relevant grant making bodies

·  Attend specific events (whether our own or those organised by third parties), including taking responsibility for liaising with organisers and/or suppliers, collating and delivering resources, attendance, establishing the rota for support personnel and volunteers, as required.

·  Help produce relevant display materials and other material for events.

·  Assist in research of key stakeholder groups eg schools, colleges, community groups, businesses.

·  As agreed, set up meetings with targeted stakeholders and attend as required.

·  Act as a contact point with designated stakeholders.

·  Assist with Social accounting programme, including: researching opportunities, researching and producing relevant outcomes.

·  Assist with and contribute to written communications to a range of stakeholders including correspondence, information sheets, electronic communications, handouts etc.

·  Ensure all relevant contacts’ details are inputted to and kept up to date on CHESS’ database.

·  Develop and maintain CHESS’ fundraising events.

·  Attend to administrative duties related to the post.

·  Other duties and projects as directed by the Executive Director

·  Other duties as reasonably required, as CHESS develops and/or the role requirements change

·  Take responsibility for personal training and development, and attend appropriate supervision & training sessions.

·  At all times have a strong awareness and understanding of CHESS’ policies, including: health & safety, equal opportunities, diversity & inclusion, data processing and volunteering.

·  Proven successful fundraising experience in the charitable sector
