Positivo Informatica Receives Five Prestigious Awards for Its Innovative Multi-Sensory E-Blocks Learning System.

E-Blocks®,an innovative multi-sensory approach for ESL and early language development was the proud recipient of five prestigious awards for during the past yearE-Blocks® received the prestigious best e-learning solution of 2005 award from the United Nations, the WSA Award. In 2006, E-Blocks® received further recognition by winning the BESSIE Award for early elementary EFL solution, the EDDIE Award for best software in Early Elementary EFL category, and two awards from the Association of Education Publishers – AEP – the Golden Lamp and the Distinguished Achievement Award. E-Blocks® instructional method provides hands-on interaction for children between the ages of 4 and 10. By promoting a direct interaction with the content, E-Blocks® encourages children to generate their own set of rules and models, which then become the basis for further learning experiences. Students work together in groups, sitting at a table with the E-Blocks® portable panel connected to a classroom computer. In response to stimuli and questions presented on the computer screen, students place the blocks on the touch-sensitive panel. Exciting learning activities including pictures, music, animation and games stimulate cooperative interaction and make learning a concrete social experience.

The program is divided into 4 levels. Its content is based on international syllabus standards and can be used as stand-alone course or as a supplementary resource. E-Blocks is used by Pre-schools and Kindergartens, Elementary Schools, ESLSchools and Special Education. The System includes between 10 – 28 lessons per level, companion books, teacher guides, audio CDs and flash cards. The Activities include introduction and practice through interactive activities using pictures, animation and sound to reinforce learning. In addition, there is a Teacher Management System that allows teachers to monitor student progress and identify areas of weakness.

During the 2005/2006 school year, Positivo commissioned independent research in several California schools to determine the impact of students using E-Blocks on the reading assessment tests. Results indicated that students using E-Blocks in conjunction with other reading programs achieved higher levels on their DIBLES benchmarks scores in Nonsense Words and Oral Reading Fluency than students in control groups.
