Position:WASH Programme Manager

Reporting to: Emergency ProgrammCoordinator (EPC)

Job Location:Concepcion and Provinces of Region 6

Closing date: 2nd March 2014

General objective of the position

The Wash Engineer will be a counterpart to the International Emergency Engineer and will be expected to take on increasing levels of responsibility over time and Concern will build the post-holders capacity accordingly. S/he is responsible for overseeing the implementation of administrative, financial, technical and community mobilization functions for the wash projects being implemented in Concepcion and Provinces of Region 6.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day construction projects in the area of operation. These projects will primarily relate to the construction of water supply systems, water distribution networks, well rehabilitation, and potentially rehabilitation of schools and communal structures, and building of new evacuation and multi-purpose centres.
  • The area of operation will be on the island of Panay, municipalities and barangays as agreed with authorities, and Negros Occidental.
  • Liaise with local authority/municipalities on identified projects while at the same time keeping beneficiary communities informed and updated
  • Support and manage staff reporting to this position
  • To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • Computer skills, preferably including AutoCAD, DraftSight, SketchUp or similar.
  • Good organizational skills required.
  • The WASH Programme Manager will be reporting in English and therefore must be fluent, or near fluent, in the English language written and oral.
  • Considerable experience managing large teams and budgets.

Educational background

  • Engineering Degree

Contract Conditions

Period of employment: 6 Months + possibility of extension

Starting date: ASAP

The salary will be defined regarding the Concern salary scale.
