POSITION:Volunteer & Events Manager

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES: The Volunteer & Events Manager, in close coordination with the Director of Development, is responsible for managing the volunteer services provided by adults, children, faith communities, businesses, and civic and academic groups serving in diverse roles to enhance the programs and the daily operations of FACETS. He/she is also responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of FACETS’ major events. Serves on FACETS’ Leadership Team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES:

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & ADMINISTRATION

  • In consultation with program, administrative, and development staff, as well as volunteers, assess organizational and volunteer needs and develop an annual plan for volunteer recruitment, supervision, retention and recognition.
  • Identify knowledge, skills, abilities and motivations required to fulfill the volunteer roles and assignments and develop positionsto meet assessed needs.
  • Recruit volunteers for specific roles and assignments including individual and group volunteer opportunities—i.e. corporate, civic, student and other volunteer groups.
  • Interview and screen volunteers through regular volunteer and mentor orientations, matching prospective volunteers within appropriate positions.
  • Work with the Development Associateto ensure accurate data collection for volunteer paperwork, and hours logged.
  • Provide overall management of the Hot Meals program serving as the main liaison—conducting quarterly informational meetings, quarterly food certification, and ensuring all daily routes are covered.
  • Provide training to staff with respect to ongoing volunteer appreciation.
  • Conduct program evaluations with a view to improving the volunteer program.
  • Develop procedures and processes to maintain regular contact with volunteers, obtaining feedback, and providing positive reinforcement.
  • Ensure volunteers have adequate supervision and training to fulfill their assignments or roles.
  • Assess potential risks for volunteer positions and address these risks with appropriate level of screening protocol and by identifying training needs.

EVENTS MANAGEMENT

  • Take the lead in planning volunteer recognition events and activities that demonstrate the importance of volunteers to FACETS.
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Development, leads the planning and execution for all FACETS special events including A Taste of Fall with FACETS and the Opening Doors Benefit Breakfast. Responsibilities include all aspects of event design including concept, theme, timelines, and budget development.
  • Works with the Education and Community Development Team in planning and executing the yearly Academic Achievements Awards Banquet.
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Development, ensures the effective implementation of FACETS events in accordance with approved event plans and timelines, including all post-event activities such as evaluations, reports, data entry, and follow ups.

HOURS

  • 40 Hours per week with some evening and weekend days required.

SALARY

  • $45,000 - $48,000 per year commensurate with experience

REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in planning and executing signature fundraising events, including galas
  • Experience in onboarding and managing volunteers
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with donor and volunteer management databases
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred minimum four years of nonprofit development experience.
