Position: Vehicle Assembly Technician

Introduction

As Tevva move into the production phase, the ability deliver reliable well-built trucks is critical. This role is vital in achieving this quality and reliability. It is also critical in demonstrating that Tevva are building trucks to best practices and recording the data to demonstrate this.

Purpose of role:

Assemble core system sub-assemblies in preparation for vehicle build

  • Belly Pan
  • Hotel load sub-systems
  • Manufacture Wiring Looms
  • Range Extender
  • E-motor and brackets
  • Vehicle control unit enclosure

Follow Standard Operating Procedures and document builds

Assemble Core systems and sub systems to vehicles

Document all build methodically and accurately

PDI vehicle

Prepare Vehicle for delivery

Ensure build areas are kept neat and tidy at all time.

Feedback on all aspects of assembly

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned function from oral and/or written instructions, drawings, or Standard Operating procedures.
  • Follow established procedures/work instructions for assigned function.
  • Handle materials in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all plant equipment in area of assignment as required.
  • Maintain quality standards by inspecting and testing finished products to ensure conformance with specifications and codes.
  • Maintain expected progress of jobs in area of assignment and communicate problem areas or parts shortages.
  • Observe good housekeeping and safety procedures and keep equipment, tools and work area clean and orderly by performing 5-S duties.
  • Exhibit teamwork in all you do, maintaining a positive and team-based attitude. Support peers in time of high demand.
  • Work in a timely manner to ensure customer needs are fulfilled and deadlines are met. Work at a pace that meets expected productivity goals.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Either recognised apprenticeship in mechanical assembly or equivalent, or through work experience gained on the job.
  • A comprehensive range of assembly and fitting skills with previous experience in similar roles.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and work from written instructions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy drilling techniques.
  • Good problem-solving abilities.
  • Cleanliness and housekeeping (5S) methodology.
  • A high level of health and safety awareness.
  • Previous experience of working to prescribed Standard Operating Procedures.

Advantageous Skills & Experience

  • Fork truck license would be beneficial.
  • Develop job safety analysis and safe working procedures.
  • Qualification in motor mechanics / city and guilds or equivalent.

Other

  • The job will be located primarily in Chelmsford in Essex with occasional UK travel (<10%).
  • Working hours are 40 hours per week although as a new business there may be a requirement to work additional hours as required.
